My wife and I have enjoyed tapas meals on occasion in big cities, so were pleasantly surprised to find "Tapas on Main" in my "little" home town of Bethlehem, PA, when we visited my Mom at Thanksgiving. Generally, my Mom prefers visiting only familiar, "safe" places, but for some reason was willing to step outside her comfort zone on this occasion. And she (and we) thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff was very accommodating (e.g., arranging seating to allow for my Mom's walker and turning down the music, which was interfering with my Mom's hearing aids). Our waiter also took the time to explain several of the choices and make recommendations, all of which proved excellent.
We started with the Bandeja Mixta (a mixed platter of three meats and/or cheeses). We selected Jamon Serrano, Roncal Sheep's Milk, and El Trigal Manchengo. Our tapas were Viera al Sarten (scallops, our favorite among the tapas we tried), Croquetas de Cangrejo Azul (very tasty, but didn't seem to have much crab meat), and Croquetas de Pollo y Chorizos. I'm no expert when it comes to Sangrias, but we each enjoyed our choices (there are 9 to choose among). We completed our lunch by sharing a slice of the flourless chocolate cake, served with a dip of vanilla ice cream.
All in all, a wonderful meal (especially for a family that loves sharing food, even when it's not a tapas restaurant). We look forward to another visit the next time we're in the Lehigh Valley.
