“Amazing place to stay, hope to return”
Reviewed 9 September 2013 via mobile

We stayed at the Village Lodge for only a couple of nights but wish we could have stayed longer. Following a 6 hour drive from San Francisco this was just what we needed.

The room was amazing as were all the facilities at the accommodation and the village in general. The staff were also top notch and had really helpful suggestions about what to do to make the most of our limited time in the area. We visited rainbow falls and the devil's post pile as well as a few of the lakes in the area including horse shoe and lake Mary, both of which were simply stunning. We also had the added bonus of catching some of the Kamikaze mountain bike competition at the top of the gondola on both nights of our stay.

It was a shame that we stayed while there wildfires were ongoing in Yosemite as it meant we didn't get to see as much. Of that as we had hoped as the 120 was shut, but whew we're lucky in that the Mammoth Lakes area was not affected by all the smoke.

We would love to return to Mammoth, especially in winter, and would not hesitate to book the Village Lodge if we are lucky enough to return.

Stay here if you want the feel of a nice resort w/ attached retail areas. Expect a little noise (the happy type), though if you need a quiet spot, you'd want a room away from the retail and pool areas. We stayed in a 1 BR unit. Complete kitchen w/ granite counter tops which we made use of. Carpet a little aged, but not bad. Air conditioning w/ a portable unit that cools off the living room just fine, but perhaps might have trouble cooling off the separate bedroom on a hot day. Flat screen TV in the living room and bedroom. Bathroom had a nice slate floor. Sheets on the bed were fresh, clean and good quality. They clean the sheets every third day.

Parking is underground, and can be a little tricky just due to all the cement pillars in the garage. Be careful! And if you need a bell cart to haul your stuff, you won't find them laying around, but you can get one by asking the front desk staff and giving them ID as collateral. I should add, the front desk staff were always very helpful.

Numerous hot tubs around the resort. Two are in the big pool area and are the most popular, but you can also find more secluded hot tubs in or near some of the other buildings.

Fun to visit the shops and restaurants, but just know any items bought will incur extra minimal fees both for the resort and for the town of Mammoth Lakes, which they consider an "assessment fee", not a "tax". I just found it annoying that our restaurant bill had surcharges for the resort.

And of course, watch out for the $20/night resort fee, which most booking sites "should" tell you about. Despite some of the extra charges, overall I think for what you get it's a good value, at least in summer when we booked. Winter rates might be another matter.

Room Tip: Ask the front desk for a bell cart if you have a lot of luggage.

Stayed in a 2 BR unit. It was comfortable and well equipped. Having daily maid service in what feels like a condo was great. The staff was very accommodating. The village had a nice selection of shops and restaurants including a Starbucks that you could arrange morning delivery from -although we ended up walking down each morning. The weather was beautiful -August 25 thru 31- and so was the surrounding area-and there was so much to do. There was plentiful free transit. We did end up needing a car to drive to Yosemite, and I recommend reserving ahead of time as supply is limited-I also recommend Enterprise. The only bummer was we did have a long walk from the lobby of our building to the room..

Room Tip: I would ask for a room closer to the elevator/lobby- or at least not at the end of the hallway. The...

We had a great stay in one of the apartments that are spacious, clean and fully equipped. We had a nice view and the apartments are perfectly located above the small village with direct access to nice restaurants and bars.
We slept with windows open wide as we enjoyed the fresh air and calm surroundings.
Staff was friendly and fast. Apartments were clean and comfortable.

A great place to stay. Excellent facilities, great surroundings and very helpful staff. When we got there the booking was not showing hoever they gave us a room and said that they would speak to the booking agents to sort it out. The following morning they confirmed that thebooking was all ok.

It was only for one night, but we had a vey nice stay. I asked for a room with a view and they accommodate us, we got a room overlooking the snowy mountains. The suite was very clean, spacious, quite comfortable.
The people at the front desk were very polite, a bit dry, usually I find that in resorts like those that they are very enthusiastic and they offer many possibilities to make you stay more enjoyable, but maybe they were having an off day. Overall I recommend this place.
