This was the second time we had stayed at The Village Lodge which is a good indication of how much we enjoyed our previous stay. Our one bedroom apartment in Lincoln House had a full kitchen which was well stocked with china and cutlery, with daily refills of coffee, tea, etc and room service for bed making and clean towels and linen as required. Free wifi was another bonus.
Without exception the staff were marvellous, from the front desk, housekeeping staff and shuttle driver, all were happy to help in any way they could. We also took advantage of the DVD library in house.
The Village Lodge is close to many bars, restaurants and shops making it easy to decide whether to eat in or out but you do need to arrange to use the shuttle to go to the supermarket which we did and so most days were able to take our lunch to the slopes. Ski storage was convenient near the ground floor lift which made a quick trip to the gondola base. We stayed for 12 days and enjoyed every one.

Room tip: Lincoln House is near Canyon Boulevard and is close to ski storage and the gondola

Hello Robin T,

Thanks for your review of The Village Lodge! I'm glad you were able to enjoy your time in the mountains for more than just a weekend! There is so much to do in Mammoth, and it sounds like you were able to experience quite a bit. The Village offers many amenities, I hope you were able to take advantage of the heated pool and five jacuzzis located all over the property. The option to dine out without having to dig out a car is a definite bonus, and our heated underground garage makes it easy to park your car and leave it until you check out! We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back at The Village Lodge the next time you return to Mammoth! Thanks again.

Warm Regards,

Oh my gosh we had so much fun. The Hotel had everything everything!! They even had sleds in our rooms. We had a full kitchen. We cooked complete meals. Our room was very spacious and large 2 bedroom 2 bath. Having under ground was so nice. The room was very nice and clean very clean. I can't say enough good things about The Village Lodge. We will be back next year and can't wait. I would not stay any where else. The hotel has a upscale feeling. It is not run down . When you book a hotel you have never been to your always worried how is it going to be. I was so happy when we got there that we made a good choice. They are not cheap in price but nobody is up there. It is so nice everything you need is walking distance. They have a free shuttle to the main lodge if you want to Ski at the main lodge if not there is a free gondola to the other ski area lifts.

Room tip: we had a corner room #1225 loved it

Hello Beverly K,

Thank you for taking the time to post your review! I agree that it can bring a bit of anxiety booking somewhere new, so I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay, as well as our numerous amenities! The Village Gondola is a great perk during our winter months, providing quick access to Canyon Lodge. Now that our season is slowly winding down, our shuttle is still available to take guests to Main Lodge, as well as our complimentary town shuttles. While our ski season is continuing until 4th of July, I encourage you to come back and experience Mammoth during our summer months! Conveniently located just 45 minutes from the east entrance of Yosemite, Mammoth has miles of hiking trails, mountain bike opportunities, numerous lakes, and some of the best fishing around! Whatever the season, we look forward to welcoming you back! Thanks again for your kind words.

Warm Regards,

The Village Lodge was a GREAT place to stay. We were in the middle of everything ie: gondala, shops, resturant, bars etc.. Shuttle Service was available through the hotel at zero cost. Maria at the front desk was wonderful. She was very Knowledgeable with the Lodge as well as the village and the rest of Mammoth. She recommended the Gondala scenic ride up the mountain which is a must. She also gave us a key (after we checked out)for the fitness center to freshen up after snowboarding. Kevin at the front desk helped us with arranging our stay and put us in a great room that overlooked the village and the mountain. Our room was a 1 bedroom that sleeps 4 comfortably. Rooms were great and had all the necessities to cook. will definitely come back again next year!

Hello Michelle R,

Thank you for your review! I'm pleased to hear you were able to take advantage of our courtesy shuttle, it's definitely a plus when the weather turns a bit ugly! After a long day on the hill, being able to walk to dinner or happy hour can sometimes make all the difference! I'm glad you were able to take the scenic gondola ride up to the summit! The Interpretive Center featured at the top is full of interesting facts and killer views! I'm happy Maria was able to assist you, and will pass along your positive feedback both to her and our managers. Thank you again for your review, and we hope to see you next time!

We stayed at the Village Lodge to ski, and these comments relate to the hotel and skiing. We stayed in a one-bedroom unit in the Grand Sierra lodge. The unit itself offered a small kitchen with dishes, a diswasher, a microwave, and full-sized refrigerator. Cooking a full meal might prove challenging, but it is a perfectly nice set-up for putting together breakfast or sandwiches to take to the slopes for lunch. The sitting area fits a small table, couch, chair and fireplace. The pull-out couch was very uncomfortable, even for a child. The bath was nice, and the master with a king bed was fine. The unit was clean and presentable.

The problem involved services. First, when we arrived late, we needed to park in a parking garage that was a long walk from the unit with all of our equipment. The front desk offered no direction on where to store skis at all, so we ended up leaving them in the car in the garage and retrieved them the next day. After skiing, we finally tracked down a locker room for skis that was a very, very long walk from the gondola to take to the base of the ski area and the front desk gave us a lock. The locker for our room, however, already had a lock on it. Rather than walk all the way back to the front desk, we gave up and put the skis in our car again. The locker room was very dark (the lighting did not work in all of the sections) and inconvenient--a definite problem. They should come up with a place to store skis near the gondola or at the Canyon lodge so that guests do not need to walk a very long walk with skis every day.

There is no convenient place for breakfast, so you need to be sure to take/or buy breakfast food in advance. As noted above, the gondola is a long walk. You need to take the gondola to the Canyon Lodge where the actual ski area is. In short, this is not a convenient slope-side resort.

Hello Barbara M,

Thank you for your review, though I'm sorry to hear you ran into a few hiccups during your stay. As each unit is individually owned, it is up to the owner to decide which mattresses they would like in their unit. However, we do try and offer feedback to our owners whenever possible about the guest experiences. Each unit is given one parking spot in our underground garage, so I am not sure if you brought a second vehicle that needed to be parked in the parking lot located across the street. The garage is labeled for proximity to each building, as we try to minimize the distance our guests have to walk, especially after a long drive up to the mountains! Each building has a ski locker storage room on the bottom floor. I apologize you were not advised that in the event your locker was occupied, you were welcome to occupy an open locker. The Mountain Center offers lockers at the bottom and top of The Village Gondola for a daily fee, but we offer our lockers for our guests complimentary. If you happen to return to The Village Lodge as I hope you do, feel free to request a room in our Lincoln House, as that building is the closest to the gondola. Feel free to reach out to me personally if you would like to discuss any of these issues further. We welcome to opportunity to host you again, and show you just how convenient The Village Lodge can be!

Warm Regards,

Upon a crazy late arrival Maria took outstanding care of our family at The Village Lodge. We had a need for 2 bathrooms but not 2 bedrooms and she was able to accommodate that as well as give our 2 kids their own 2 beds plus an amazing view for the same price! The room was more than perfect! We will definitely be coming back to The Village Lodge for its convenience, room features, and not having to pull our car out once!!!

Room tip: ask for room close to elevator if you have a lot of ski stuff.

Hello Macfam456,

Mammoth is a wonderful getaway, but unfortunately requires a bit of a drive from pretty much anywhere! I'm glad you were able to check into a room that suited your needs, and that Maria was able to get you settled in with a smile. The ability to park your car and leave it is definitely a big perk of staying at The Village Lodge, and I'm glad you were able to take advantage of the many conveniences located within steps of your room. We look forward to welcoming you back!
