“Mixed bag”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

Rafters has been a Mammoth Lakes classic for decades, and we wish we could give it an unqualified thumbs up. From service to food, the quality was inconsistent. The wait staff was friendly, but follow through needs improvement - and this was not a busy evening. It took four requests to finally get the fireplace lit. Food varied from very good on down. French fries were served at room temperature and overly crisp. Hamburgers were served at a 'doneness' that varied from that requested. The scallops appetizer had a delicious sauce, but was also served at room temperature with the inside almost raw. The grilled caesar was done to a black char on one side rather than a crisp grill. Our party of four was not totally pleased with our overall experience. We're afraid that Rafters falls prey to 'resort fever', where no one is that attuned to each and every diner's experience because the customers are transient. Too bad.

Rafters for breakfast is fun. Everything you like, but all dressed up. I had the Duck Egg Benedict - with pork belly. And it was fabulous. Bring your adventure hat and enjoy a great meal.

“Good Bar and Grill”

Fun sports bar type setting. Wonderful, friendly service. Good wholesome food. Delicious drinks.
Great place to stop in after a day of skiing or mountain biking. Can't go wrong for the price.

“Best Breakfast and Dinner”
Reviewed 21 April 2014

Went all week long for breakfast here and it's the best breakfast I've ever had. The bacon is out of this world. Had been for dinner on previous trip and it was meh so this time I was blown away when the food came it was amazing. I ordered the Salmon flown in from Scotland - outrageous! I asked the manager if they had changed the Chef and yep I was right. They have the chef from the ACE hotel in Palm Springs and what a difference. The next night I had the stripped bass which was just as amazing. Amazing wine selection and great entertainment. We did Bingo night which the kids loved and Kareoke night too. SO MUCH FUN! Oh and staff so friendly too.
