We were badly let down by this hotel, the only poor accommodation we experienced during a 4 week roadtrip of three states.

Check in staff were cold and abrupt, more interested in talking to each other whilst we were checking in rather than tend to our queries or even look at us. Our request made 2 months prior (with full payment) for a top floor room in a quiet location was met with the reply all the rooms on that floor are taken we have you on the second floor. Ok we thought that shouldn't be too bad, how wrong could we be. The hotels second floor is actuallly at the rooftop height of the cars in the car park which is exactly what the view from our room was. Noise from cars coming and going was constant until late at night. I am certainly glad we didn't get the first floor which actually looked like it was half below ground level.

The room was very dark and not very clean with hairs on both the bath and bathroom floor and rubbish in one of the bins in the bedroom.

With no option we just made do with this situation thankful that we were only here for one night, at least the beds were comfortable which is the only positive during our stay.
After a long tiring 7 hour drive from Vegas we put our 8 year old down early and soon joined him around 8pm for a good nights sleep before our early departure.
At 8.40pm while in a deep sleep we are woken by someone barging into our room, thankfully our security lock was latched. After reaching the door I find a maintenance man saying he was there to do some maintenance work!!
I told him to get out and can he not read the DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door!
I immediatley called the front desk thinking that this person was a criminal breaking into rooms for who has ever heard of a maintenance man doing room repairs at 8.40 in the evening especially when there is a Do Not Disturb sign on the door and also there had been no request for maintenance by us. Well the cool responce was sorry he must have got the wrong room and he is just doing some maintenance. Well the maintenance part was right as for the next 40 minutes we were kept awake by banging and loud noises. from down the hallway.

Breakfast which was included in the room tarrif was a below standard effort with cold sausages and scrambled eggs swimming in water, while the orange juice tasted more like cordial than juice. We left more on the plate than we ate and just headed for the door, keen to put some distance between ourselves and this nightmare overnight stay.

We booked our stay after reading Tripadvisor reviews and are still wondering if the reviews are about the same hotel.

No hotel is perfect and you live with one or two small problems but what we experienced was totally unaccepable. Especially the issue with room security as we could have been at dinner when the maintenance man entered our room at 8.40pm, all our gifts and possessions were in that room one can only guess what would have happened to them. More importantly what if my wife had been asleep by herself!!! I hate to think about that.

Funnily enough the next night we were also booked at another Best Western in California and experienced a wonderful stay.
For those who do not know Best Western Hotels are franchised out to individual operators.

So to all travellers heading for Mammoth Lakes be sure to NOT stay at this hotel as it could ruin your experience in a beautiful mountain town.

The hotel staff and management are always disappointed to hear of any guest's dissatisfaction with thier experience at our hotel. The hotel takes every step to ensure that all amenities are pleasing to the broadest group of guests.

The management of this hotel holds cleanliness standards to the highest level. We even employ black lights in our inspection process to ensure that we exceed our guests expectations. Our breakfast is a full hot buffet that includes most items expected in a traditional american breakfast. We understand that some guest's have experiences that do not meet thier expectations even with all of our efforts, but we will always listen to our guests comments and make every effort to meet those expectations on thier next stay.

1. They should take the money they spend on fancy soap and use it to buy some medium quality toilet paper. (Should have brought my own?)

2. When I check in for three nights please don't code my keycard for one night. It's very annoying to get to your room (or the outside door in out case) when arms loaded and find out your keys have stopped working. Is it really that hard to get this right?

3. When I go to the front desk to get keys fixed don't make me wait 15 minutes while the one guy on duty deals with checkins.

4. If you are going to lock out the setup functions on the TV, at least set it up right in the first place. I really don't like watching a TV with the aspect ratios so very wrong.

P.S. It'd be really nice if hotels would come up with a nice way for guests to plug in their many chargers.

This hotel is very nice, clean and beautiful. The pool is very crisp and inviting as well as the hot tub. The rooms are very nice and comfortable as well. The restaurant/bar is okay for food, but I would suggest traveling about town for a better place to eat. Some of the people at the front desk gave conflicting information, which was the only down point. They have a few washers and dryers available for laundry, but they seem to run out of the soap in the machines very often.

Great place to stay. Breakfast included. Good location. This area is primarily a ski destination, but there is alot to do year-round. Yosemite, Devils postplie and the scenic Minerette Mtns. are just the beginning.
