“Wonderful room!”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

My husband and I stayed in a lodge room recently at the Wildyrie on the banks of Lake Mamie. It was wonderfully furnished with antiques galore and unique in every way. The linens were new and nice. The room was tiny but neat and clean. The bath was newly redone and had plenty of storage. The breakfast in the morning after a wonderful nights slumber was great! We had quiche and coffee, a perfect start to a lovely day in the Lakes Basin of Mammoth away from the hustle and bustle of the town. The staff was friendly and kind. It was a great stay and we highly recommend the Wildyrie! As to activities, being nestled in the Lakes Basin you have hiking, fishing, and the free trolley that runs around the area and down to town, picking up passengers a few steps away from your door. It was a wonderful stay and memorable in every way!

We stayed in cabin #2 and were extremely disappointed in what we got for the price. It was very expensive for being so small, poorly stocked and uncomfortable. The shower was horrible, spraying in every direction and flooding the bathroom. The kitchen is very poorly stocked, bring your own pans, knives, etc. The sleeper sofa does not have a real mattress, so if you are counting on that for additonal sleeping space be forewarned. There are many, many places in Mammoth to stay for the same or less money which are considerably larger, cleaner and nicer. Oh, by the way, you have to clean the entire cabin when you leave, including the bathroom, kitchen, vacuuming and mopping the floors. That would be o.k. if it wasn't $260 per night.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else

This is an old-fashioned lakeside lodge. Our one-bedroom cabin was simple and clean. Nothing fancy, but very comfy in a rustic way. We loved the deck in front. The kitchen was reasonably well stocked. The staff were friendly and generous.
If you're very picky about pillows or towels, consider bringing your own. The bed was comfortable.
This place is quiet and relaxing. Most of the guests seemed to be there to fish. There are several nice trailheads within walking distance, and the bike path to town is nearby.
I would definitely stay here again. It's easier to get reservations here than at some other lodges in Mammoth.

This was a great place for a multi-generation family get-together. Right on Lake Mamie, which is great for fishing, kayaking/canoeing; there's a 1+ mile trail that loops the lake for an easy hike. We looked at several more expensive lodge/cabin resorts in the Mammoth Lakes area, ended up at this one because it was the only available for our time frame, but in the end thought it was the best for our preferences. It is a bit rustic. Could use some general maintenance and around the resort, but apparently new owners took over not long before we were there, so it will probably improve.
My wife accidentally left some jewelry and a hair dryer in a dresser drawer and the Wildyrie staff mailed them back to us without asking even for postage reimbursement.
If you're looking for a fancy resort with designer furnishings in the rooms, this ain't it, but if you want a fun and funky cabin right on a beautiful lake, for a very decent price, Wildyrie is a great choice.

Room Tip: Cabin #6 has view and direct path to the lake, plus a great deck.

I have been going to Mammoth for years and stayed at the Wildyrie Lodge years ago. This place stopped in time. We stayed in cabin #3 - a refurbished rustic cabin with great views of Lake Mamie. The owner has gone through and upgraded the cabins over the years - but still have therustic feel. No TV, no radio - just nature. We sat on our porch overlooking the lake every day. You are also able to walk about 20 yards to fish the lake. If you are looking for slow, relaxing, get away from the rat race - this is the place. Don't expect luxury, these are summer cabins that close down in the winter!
