Took our annual trip to Mammoth for the Bluesapalooza festival the first weekend in August. Although we almost always stay in Snowcreek this was our first time at 1205 Pyramid Peak Dr. I will rent this house again. This property is only a few years old and only has one common wall, I guess you would call it a paired home. The other unit was occupied the whole time and we never heard a sound so the home is solidly built.
Nice long driveway leading to a two car garage, entry to the first floor with a laundry room to your immediate right and a stairwell to the main level to your left. Straight ahead through a small foyer are two doors. The bedroom to the left is advertised as having a queen bed, more like a fullsize, private bath and good size closet. Good room for a single person or a couple in love. The door on the right leads to a 2nd master suite with a 4 poster king bed large private bath and a walk in closet. Both these bedrooms have access to a small deck with a view of the golf course.
Up the stairwell to the entry foyer with a nice bench and coat rack. Up a another small flight to the living level which is really one large room encompassing a mid size kitchen, dining table that will seat 8, also a kitchen counter to seat another 3 albeit the stools are not very comfy and a living room with a wood burning fireplace, 50 inch flatscreen and surround sound. On a scale of one to ten, the kitchen only gets a five. It has a mish mash of pots and pans etc. Nice new side by side fridge and a good lookin commercial style range/oven. However the range did not seem to be properly calibrated for cooking at 8200 feet. All the burners need proper calibration, a slight annoyance for the chef. The biggest drawback in the kitchen is that there really is only room for two folks on the range side at a time. Prep all food before you start cooking.
There is a door off the dining room tht leads to a small balcony with a plastic table and three chairs along with a large gas barbecue,(used it once) that worked fine. The living room has the front half of a half ton bull elk staring at you from above the wood burning fire place. Lots of DVD's and books if you stay home.
There is a half bath at the top of the stairwell which is very convenient. There is the larger of the two master suites on this level. Very spacious with a king size sleigh bed a huge private bath with a large tub and seperate shower stall and a walk in closet that will sleep a couple of kids on an aero bed.
The staircase continues off the main level up to a loft with two single beds, a large dresser that is obscured by a love seat ??? There is a closet that is hard to access due to one of the beds. My suggestion-lose the twin beds and th love seat and replace with a queen size futon. There is a full bathroom a step up off the loft, a very nice touch since most alpine designs make the loft dweller descend a floor or two to use the loo. The loft is good for kids and the bath area is large enough to give plenty of privacy for changing. The only drawback is that anyone trying to sleep in the loft will hear everything on the living level amplified by 10 as the A frame high beam ceiling acts as an amplifier. If people stay up and socialize on the main level and you want to sleep in the loft bring Ambien and earplugs.
The house was nice and clean when we arrived, only issue was lots of large spots on the carpet.
All in all this is a really nice property and I give it a 8.5 out of ten. The lower deck would be a great place for a hot tub if it was 20% larger.
