“Think of it as The New Red Lantern”
Reviewed 22 June 2014 via mobile

The confusion reflected below stems from the fact that the restaurant had been closed for over a year and this week opened with new menu and chef. The menu is creative and great value. Try the shrimp and walnut salad. The halibut was very nice. Don't miss the house made sorbets, intensely flavorful. Nice wine list and great decor, certainly not short on red lanterns.

“Opening night?”
Reviewed 15 June 2014 via mobile

We were told we were at Red Lantern for there opening night, but judging by the reviews here something got lost in the translation from American to Australian. We had no booking and were told there was a 15 minute wait for a table. We waited in a very cold and drafty entrance for about 10 minutes. It was somewhat disappointing when we were taking through to our table to find that there were multiple empty tables. We shared three appetisers which were all delicious. It was great to see Tsing Tao beer on the menu and there was a fairly good wine list. Prices were reasonable.

I loved that you could order a few of the appetizers and share them and still have an amazing yummy dinner that is still affordable.

“One of the newer restaurants in town”
Reviewed 8 July 2013

When it opened last year, The Red Lantern filled the need for a good Chinese restaurant in town. The dining rooms very elegant and it's a very pleasant place to dine. The menu offers good choices and we like the food here. We hope it will succeed and plan to return to do our part. My only question--one for any new restaurant--is if it can maintain it's initial level of success and only time can tell that.
