We love the guest service and personality of this individually owned hotel/motel. This time we stayed in a king room, main building. Perfect for the winter. The room was spacious enough, had a mini frig (very convenient). The lobby has water, coffee, and cookies available throughout the day. We dined at Petras, our favorite restaurant in Mammoth. We just discovered Happy Hour there. Go early. Lots to choose from and will save you lots of money. The restaurant is not owned or operated by the hotel but they share the same lobby.
Breakfast in the morning is extensive and caters to a European clientele. We loved we could walk across the street (5 minutes) in our ski boots and catch the gondola. Skis and boots can come directly into your room.
Love this place and highly recommend it.

No, this isn't the Ritz but Alpenhof Lodge has everything you need at a very affordable price for a ski weekend. We will be staying there again in the future!

PROS:
1) Location - Easy walk (<100 feet) to the Gondola and great restaurants in the Villiage
2) Price - $100 less per night than other similarly located properties
3) Amenities - HOT hot tub (I hate the lukewarm ones), hearty breakfast (no scrambled eggs of bacon, but more than just carbs), hairdryer in the room, and free cookies!

CONS:
1) Walls were a little thin (we could hear the neighbors arguing...then 'making up' later)
2) The entire facility is a bit dated (but nothing was broken, just 'ski hotel shabby')
3) No elevator

Room tip: Ask to stay on the 3rd floor (the quieter rooms are worth the extra stairs)

This hotel is a real gem - very convenient location close to the village and the mountain. Character building with indoor spa pool and sauna. Always clean room. Breakfast is awesome and plenty of various foods. Service is very responsive and kind. Very recommended!

Place is cosy, close to the village gondola, restaurants and bars. Everything in easy walking distance. Staff, Adam, Annemieka and Martha very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast is a little limited, some fresh fruit salad and more variety would be welcome. Place could do with a refresh of amenities, especially the bathrooms and carpets. For a mountain lodge we found it surprising that there was no dedicated and convenient storage for ski boots and skis - there's space that could be used on the ground floor. So had to schlepp all the stuff down and up the stairs every day. No proper lounge area. The jacuzzi is in the basement with concrete floor, claustrophobic, very sad and uninviting. Overall we had a good time only disturbed twice by noisy guests.
