“Great place for family”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2014

We stayed there for a night after a lot of driving and where very happy to settle in the cosy suites, suddenly felt at home. Free WiFi and covered parking provided. Saw the fully equipped kitchen and went to buy some groceries nearby to cook a homestyle family dinner. A great experience after many days on the road and in standard hotel rooms. Must be a nice place for a winter getaway too.
The only negative is the fact that some public areas and carpets urgently need renovation or replacement.

This is my 3rd stay at Juniper Springs hotel in the summer. Why do I keep coming back? The hotel is conveniently situated giving you access to the local amenities and town. It is a very comfortable hotel. We had a 1 bed condo, which offers a well equipped kitchen, spacious living area with sofa and TV, smallish bathroom, bedroom and a nice balcony. There is a pool and hot tub which are nice to chill out at the end of the day. Mammoth is a perfect place for a stop over or to spend a few days hiking and biking (which we are doing). Overall, it's a nice place to stay and does have a homely feel to it. Some areas are looking a little tired and could do with a face lift, but that would be my only downside.

I travel a lot and have lived months at a time in hotels, motels, and etc, and my family loves to dry camp in the sierras 10 mile back on a dirt road so I don't have really high expectations until I pay for a two room condo in a "Resort"....

Pro:

From the outside it looked great!

The Location is Great! Close to town, right next to the lift. Really easy to get to, right off a main street so winter access should be a breeze.

They will provide transportation to the town center.

The staff was friendly but was exhausted, at 4:00pm when we arrived.

The master bed was great if you like a soft pillow top bed. Great pillows.

The pool area looked great, but was too small to accommodate the number of guests for my taste.

Outdoor Barbecues are available.

Con:

Staff could care less about fixing any of the problems we let them know about, and didn't even write them down.

You have to park under ground so if you have a truck or suburban type vehicle know that it will be tight.

There is no air conditioning, or even a fan, in the rooms so they tell you to just open the windows. That would be fine but as there was no breeze that would air out the stuffy room. As a result the room was too warm and stuffy the entire night to sleep well.

The rooms at one point probably looked great, but the rooms are tired now. The carpets are dirty, The wood is scratched and dirty. The pullout bed was so worn that you felt like had sunk into to it so far you would need a rope climb out.

The Laundry room was so dirty that my wife cleaned before she would wash. The dryers were filled with lint. The dryers didn't get hot so it took three rounds in the dryer to get clothes dry.

The sink wouldn't drain.

The surfaces, such as the top of the refrigerator was covered with dirt and dusty. The microwave was dirty, inside and out, as was the refrigerator.

The refrigerator was loud I kept waking up cursing thinking that someone left the bathroom fan on.

The ice bucket had no liners, which is fine but when used without it leaked all over.

TV is mounted in a place that you can't watch it from the couch in the same room.

Walls are so thin that hall conversations were clear enough that I could answer their questions.

The game room had broken electronics in it and the staff didn't really care about fixing them for the kids.

Chairs on the balcony were so filthy that we couldn't use them.

Room Tip: Stay off the first floor during the Summer. They have no A/C or fans in the room and the room are s...

We really enjoyed a short stay in Mammoth Lakes and the Juniper Springs resort. The staff were helpful, very friendly and the resort had a homely feel to it. We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment, which was fine for two adults and our two teenagers. The kitchen/large fridge in the room was great and we could see how cosy the room and resort would be during the winter months.

Although Mammoth Lakes is a fantastic stop-over destination, there is tons of stuff to do during the Summer and our teenagers said they would have liked to have stayed longer in Mammoth and Yosemite and shortened the stay in some of the big-City destinations we visited during two weeks on the West Coast of the USA.

Room Tip: I doubt there is a bad view from any room!

Green Features: I was impressed by the Juniper Springs resort's attitude to recycling.

Good location for Bluesapalooza weekend. Shuttle in adjacent Eagle Lift parking lot was very convenient! Views great, room good, and kitchen useful. Charges for a resort fee irritated me. Didn't use pool area, hours for workout room not available until 10 am, and garage was difficult to park in as well as the entry gate wasn't working twice causing traffic problems. Expected higher end hotel and furnishings to match the price we paid.

Keleigh,

Thank you for staying with us during Bluesapalooza. It is a terrific event and the lineup this year was fantastic! We apologize for the garage door. It was struck by a vehicle, and we were working hard to repair the door. It has now been repaired and back to normal. We hope you stay with us next year during the Bluesapalooza and allow us to exceed your expectations.

Location is great, studio well equiped, laundry area quite large, pool looked nice, overall ambiance feels good. Real American wintersporthotel.

On the down side:

Overall staf was ignorant. Seems like they didn't care!
There was a mouse in our kitchen cupboard. This might happen, we know, but acting like this is absolutely normal is a bit strange! When complaining about the normal (instead of bearfriendly ones) bins ouside the second tower, same reaction...like they don't care about their precious wildlife.

Reception told us that they would not charge us the resortfee, because of our reservation at booking.com. Later on we found out they did. Mailing them didn't help, gave us a phone number (but making international calls is quite expensive). Again not really service oriented.

Overall not a good experience and we travel a lot and do not consider ourselves complaining people ;-)

Green Features: We didn't notice this. They use normal bins outside. We saw a bear flipping one over and going through the plastic waste! Please care Juniper!
