Looking for something new to do when in the Mammoth area during the winter evenings? Here is a fun experience that includes a wonderful dining deep in the mountains at the end of Rock Creek Road. A reservation is a MUST! The menu is always changing and served family style with all the guest in attendance in a nice log dinning room. Take Hwy #395 to Tom Place then head up Rock Creek Road to the Sno Park. You can cross country ski, snowshoe or walk in on the groomed road for the 2 miles up to the lodge. We took the snowmobile-sled ride in offered by the lodge for a small fee. My only wish would have been that the skies were clear because the stars would be AMAZING! You arrive to a nice living room with a great fireplace where you can relax with a glass of wine (or beer). Everyone (in our case there was about 12 people but they can seat many more) goes into the dining area and the wonderful food keeps coming. The service was great, the atmosphere is fun and comfortable. It is available only in the winter but I highly recommend it just remember you will need someone to drive home unless you opt to stay in one of there warm and cozy little cabins and explore the beautiful area the next day. Dress warm and check them out. rockcreeklodge.com
