Mammoth is stupid expensive, which is annoying, so we are always on the lookout for good deals. We saw the Happy Hour ad in the Sheetn and on the Mammoth Channel, so we decided to check it out. What the ad does not mention is the free chips and salsa and the $2 draft beer special. First, the salsa is outstanding. Second, the $2 draft beer special. They always have one beer on tap for $2 - in a glass, not a tiny plastic cup. Last week it was Spaten - a damn good beer. For $2.

The food is GREAT. Good portions, very high quality, very tasty, and great presentation. Pricey, yes - they only take a few bucks off for Happy Hour, but it was filling and really, really good. We had the sliders, sweet potato fries, chicken wings and some awesome thing I can't describe that involved cheese.

The atmosphere is comfortable, with a couple of flat-screens playing sports. Robert is friendly and will leave you alone if you want, or chat away.

Bottom line - above average food and a really great bar. It is off the beaten path, so they're never too slammed - I suggest heading up there for a drink and food.

We had dinner here, I think it's only open for dinner. I had Jaegerschnitzel, my husband Rouladen, which is hard to find on a german restaurant menu. Both were excellent, service was great, medium size, quiet dining room, about a mile from the village. Would definitely go there again when in Mammoth. BYW, entrees were about $25/person, came with veg. red cabbage & spaetzle.

We ate here on a weeknight after being in the evening before at happy hour for a drink. The bartender was very friendly and attentive and recommended a lovely wine to me. The next night we had the German sampler plate for $49 which was 2 large plates of traditional German / Austrian food. The food came out quickly and the drinks flowed freely. We really enjoyed the atmosphere eating at the bar tables and conversation with the friendly host. The food was tasty and quite large portions - good pub type food. A great little bar in an almost blink and you'll miss it location - and during happy hour the drinks are crazy-cheap!

we ate at this restaurant on June 28, 2009. It was a relatively quiet evening without too many guests. I ordered the duck dish which was good. My husband ordered the Jaegerschnitzel which was supposed to be an authentic German/Austria dish but it came out to be very average. We also ordered apple strudel which is a traditional german dessert and it was really good. Overall the food is good and service very good, but it may not be that authentic German food any more as we heard the autrian chef has returned to his home. I also think the price is a little high: each entry costed about $27.
