“Would stay again for sure!”
Reviewed 15 March 2014

Well presented hotel being everything it advertised itself as. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars was we felt the rooms were a tad small. Overall though a fantastic experience and the factthat we would stay again says it all! Thank you.

Our recent four-night stay at the Westin Monarch was a bit disappointing. We are not new to Mammoth or the Monache.
Having a four-star hotel in Mammoth was a dream come true; being dog friendly was a huge plus for us.
The staff as usual was wonderful; they simply could not do enough for us so no complaints on that front.
Now, for the huge let down. We found the one bedroom suite clean but badly in need of updating. The kitchen cabinets were a mess and the appliances old and dismal. Most of the furniture was marred and badly scratched. Sort of like very used Goodwill.
Last July we were upgraded to a two-bedroom suite and, although a bit dated it was in much better shape.
I know some rooms are privately owned but I think it should be the responsibility of the owner and the hotel to make every effort to keep this a four-star hotel in every respect.
Hate to say this but we are hesitant to return.

Thank You for your review. I apologize you didn't thoroughly enjoy your stay. I believe you were a guest of a private unit. I could not find a reservation under your name. The private condo units are not affiliated with the Westin. We do not manage their units, nor do they have to follow any Westin Brand Standards. If you were a guest of a private unit i would suggest contacting the owner. If you were a guest fo the Westin but under a different name, I am sorry for the disappointment. Our goal is to ensure all our guests leave feeling better than when they arrive. All furniture is the same for every room. We do preventive maintenance and deep cleans 2x a year, and our Room attendants report any issues on a daily basis. I will inform all our teams to ensure no furniture is in the state of disrepair you describe.

Thank You
Patrick

Beautiful hotel. The rooms, pool area, lobby, restaurant etc. are all really nice. Our room was an efficiency unit that had an upscale kitchenette, gas fireplace and super tall ceilings. It left nothing to be desired.
The food is great. The staff are well trained and very hospitable.
We were there in August and our rates were extremely reasonable given the facility. The entrance to Yosemite is about 40 minutes away and takes you through Tioga Pass/ the high Sierras.
Downtown Mamouth Springs is only a few minutes away.
We would go back to this place in a heart beat. It gave our visit to Yosemite a somewhat elegant ending to each day. We stayed for 3 nights and were sorry when we left.

Thank you for Choosing the Westin Monache, we are sorry you left too! Summer is truly the hidden gem of the Eastern Sierras. It is a beautiful time of year and I am happy to read you were able to take advantage of all the area has to offer. The Mammoth Lakes basin rivals Yosemite for sheer beauty and ambiance. We look forward to your return!

We love this hotel. The only bad thing is it BOOKS UP! So obviously we are not the only ones who love it! The staff is courteous and efficient and friendly. The rooms are very nice and the location can't be beat. The restaurant/bar is actually very good and the hotel is kid friendly. It's def a luxury property on the mountain and we look forward to our stay every time we are actually able to get a room.

We were pleasantly surprised how close we were to the lifts, we literally just walked across the street. There was a ski rental shop inside the hotel which was very convenient. The food at the hotel restaurant was really good, nice wine list and friendly staff. Also across the street were some cute shops and a few restaurants. Great location, great stay!

Thank you for giving us a chance to surprise you! As you mention we are very close to the Canyon Gondola as well as the village. In addition, we also offer a shuttle service to the shops and restaurants in town. Our F&B team is a tremendous group of passionate foodies! One of the 6 pillars of Westin is EAT WELL, and I believe Chef Jeremy Graham embodies this pillar. We all look forward to your return.

What a great place to kick back and enjoy the mountain. We were traveling from San Diego and wanted to visit Mammoth Lakes and relax on our way to Seattle. Wonderful staff welcomed us to the hotel. We had a one bedroom suite with a kitchen and view of the pools. The heavenly bed was wonderful. There is a shuttle to get to the gondola and village. Can not say enough good things about the hotel and staff.
Another bonus, Westin's are pet friendly!

I think you have said a lot of good things, and we appreciate the time spend writing this review. We are lucky to enjoy a lot of wonderful guest from San Diego, and the Horizon Airline flight makes it so easy to visit. Thank you for choosing the Westin and I hope it is the first of many more!
