I can't find any reason for not giving this Hotel a definite 10. Since the moment we drove in, every aspect of our stay was simply excellent. Great service, comfortable and very clean rooms. And a perfect ambiance. We did not visit the restaurants since there are very nice dining options in the village. We are looking forward to return.

Thank you for this very nice review; we are looking forward to your return as well! I hope next time we can get you into Whitebark. The village does offer very nice dining options, but not as nice as what we have on property. We are all proud to work at this Westin and we thank you for your business.

Be Well!

We have rented 2 rooms suite for 2 nights, would love to come back for next time...is such a perfect location to ride the cable car to the mountain top..the station is just at the side of the hotel ( walking distance ).

The hotel staffs are friendly and helpful and the also welcoming us with Starbucks Hot Chocolate and Coffee...Nice! As a Starwoods members they also welcome us with champagne.

Rooms are nice and clean, and their kitchen are well equipped that provides us to cook our own meals especially we are traveling with kids! Value for money and definitely would recommend this hotel to others!

Thank you for taking the time to review the Westin Monache. The Gondola across the street runs from mid-December to about May. Thank you for the recommendation and I hope you come back again the next time you are in Mammoth Lakes.

This is such a perfect stay for a long weekend getaway. This pet-friendly hotel was perfect for us. I am sure our dog loved it as much as we did. We definitely saw several other dogs while we stayed there. Our room has a little kitchen area, complete with dinnerware and utensils, and it also has a bay window. The hotel is walking distance to the village where there are plenty of restaurants and shops. We would not hesitate to return with our pooch!

Mammoth Lakes, The Westin Monache and Dogs are all perfect together. This is such a wonderful part of California to get away with your dog for a renewing weekend. Whether it is summer, fall or during the snow season, traveling with your dog to this property is a great idea. We look forward to seeing you both back soon.

A nice hotel, with everything that you expect from a Westin. We stayed for 5 nights in mid-July, two adults and a 16 mo old baby.

The yeahs!
The staff - attentive, friendly and helpful - great front desk, valet and house cleaning
Rooms that are above the 3rd floor facing the mountains
Pool/Fitness Center
Easy access to the village
Happy hour menu at Whitebark
Coffee in the lobby in the morning
Nicely appointed kitchenettes
Laundry room - as a DINK I never would have cared, as a small family it came in handy

The nays!
The rooms are packed with big furniture pieces and small closets
Rooms on lower floors facing the pool - you will hear kids having fun from 7am- 10pm (but who can blame them the pool is awesome)!
Wacky poolside service. Sometimes it was efficient and some days it was slow and confused. All the food comes from the Whitebark kitchen and bar - just be patient you may be waiting.

If you are a family of 4 - you're going to be tight in the 1 bedroom suite, consider the 1 bedroom plus den - you'll appreciate the elbow room. As I mentioned the furniture is pretty large and you'll be looking for places to store your 'stuff'!

Room Tip: Pool facing rooms during the summer will be loud, especially on the lower floors. Rooms facing the m...

Thank you for both your reviews. I really appreciate the time you spent reviewing this property and for choosing the Westin for your hospitality needs. I am happy to read about the Yeahs, especially the comment concerning the staff. The wacky pool service, I am very sorry you encountered such sporadic delivery. The 1 bedroom den is a great recommendation but we only have 5 so the 1 bedroom suite is also a nice option. We all look forward to your next visit.

Our family had a nice stay at the Westin Monache Resort last week. We had a studio room which had a huge king size bed and fold-out couch. The bed was very comfortable, nice linens too. Fireplace in the living area as well. The kitchenette was a huge plus, we made a few meals during our 3-night stay here. It is complete with plates, silverware, pots, pans, our kitchen even a blender. This resort allows dogs, but the staff (and dog owners) keep the grounds neat and the dogs we encountered were very well behaved. It is a newer, modern hotel, honestly, the hotel is kept very clean, you wouldn't know dogs were allowed to stay in the rooms here.
The second evening of our stay, management put up a sign that stated the pool area was closed due to possible thunderstorms, even though there was no rain and clear skies above. When my husband contacted management about why the pool was closed, there were a few calls exchanged and they finally reopened it.
Overall I recommend this Westin, a good value, nice location, a really gorgeous town to visit.

Room Tip: Higher level floor

Thank you for the very nice review. I apologize for the pool confusion. We have very rapidly changing weather at 8,000 feet and the sign should have been removed quicker. Safety is a major concern so we cannot allow guests to swim when lighting is in the area. Thank you for the recommendation and we look forward to your next visit.

Since my first review of this property four years ago - for a stay that didn't happen due to a boiler problem at the hotel and for which they found us an excellent alternate accommodation that they paid for, my wife and I and our Golden Retriever have stayed at the Westin Monache at least five times. Every time the welcome is efficient and friendly, the room is as expected (and changed if the location is not a good one) and our stay virtually trouble-free.
The rates are very fair for the high quality of accommodation. The breakfast is very good and opens early so we can get going with our day. The mini-kitchen allows us to make a little meal if we want, and keep our drinks cold. The free underground parking is great.
The fact that the hotel is dog-friendly makes it a top choice for us, and the reception staff is always happy to see our now-aging Golden and often give him a treat. There is plenty of off-pavement area for dog walking right outside the door.
If there are any televised sports events occurring during your stay, you can watch them in the bar.
The concierge has good information on local activities beyond skiing, hiking and biking, such as wildflowers, fall colors and rustic hot springs.
My only gripe is the "facility fee", which many hotels have adopted that is no more than a room-rate enhancer, but all-in, the Westin is still our first choice at Mammoth Lakes.

Room Tip: Higher is quieter. The hotel is a horseshoe around a pool and spa area that can have some noise, bu...

We very much enjoyed our two room suite for 3 nights. The kitchenette was very complete, with everything needed. This hotel has a very friendly and efficient staff, easy free parking in the underground area. The location was perfect, being just up the hill from the area bus center. The free shuttles take you literally everywhere in the area. Also, in the same area is The Village, with shops, restaurants, bars and plenty of areas for children to play. Pet friendly- both the hotel and The Village.

Room Tip: Our 3rd floor, south side room was great. Elevator to "LL" then out the first door, and a...
