The westin at mammoth lakes lived up to the name. The room itself was clean, and while small was able to comfortably fit four people (we got a one bedroom suite). The hotel had a large pool and gym, and the staff was very knowledgable about the area. It was a pretty good stay.

We booked ahead which got us great rates for the first night. When we decided we wanted to stay 2, the internet quoted rate would have been double, but we mAnaged to negotiate the same rate for the second night. Great service. The only thing that let the hotel down was high prices for ordinary breakfasts. Otherwise, it was a real treat. We went to the Devils Postpile, and combined it with a bear hunt round the tracks. Fabulous scenery and even at the busiest time of the summer, there were relatively few people. No bears that we could see tho :-(

Very nice property, and the nice low prices in the summer will bring us back again. We had a two room suite with fireplace and a balcony that let the forest scents envelop you. Staff was OK, not the best, but it appeared to be a skeleton crew at the beginning of Summer. Underground parking was great and close to elevators. One of the best launching points for outdoor adventures.

The hotel itself is beautiful. We had a one bedroom suite which was really nice. The living area is big and has a table and chairs as well as a couch and chair near the fireplace. The kitchen was simple but you could almost cook a meal there. Bedroom and bath good size with lots of storage. Balcony was a bit small and overlooked the Village complex. Easy to get to the Village by the back stairs. Hotel itself is on a hill and pretty quiet. My only complaint is with the management. We tried to check in around 3 pm on a Sunday, but rooms were still being cleaned. We were given a voucher for a beverage and told we would be called. After about an hour and 15 minutes I decided to go personally check for our room, but there was a huge line a check in and it appeared from the conversations, many unhappy guests not getting their rooms as expected. We did not have that trouble, once I got through the line, our one bedroom was ready. Check out the next day was similarly not very efficient and slow.

Room Tip: Higher up floors will have better views.

I have not stayed here in the winter but have stayed every summer for 5 years. It is one of the nicest hotels I've stayed at. This year we found out they were dog friendly and we brought our small dog, the staff was so accommodating and nice. They brought up a bed and bowls for our dog and they were willing to do anything to make us feel comfortable. The prices during the summer are extremely low for a place this nice. We look forward to staying here every summer!

Thank you for taking the time to review the Westin Monache. In addition, thank you for your continued support, 5 years and counting is awesome. Many of the Starwood brands are dog friendly, and Mammoth Lakes is so highly populated with dogs; it is a great relationship we have with our pet owner guests. We look forward to your return next summer, but don’t rule out winter! Many days during the week we have fantastic rates that rival the summer.

My wife and I stayed here a week ago while traveling in the Eastern Sierra. We found the rooms to be large, well furnished, clean and comfortable. We ordered room service and found it to be delicious, prompt and reasonably priced. The staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. One can walk out the door and into the village which has nice shops and restaurants. The only drawback was the dogs brought by guests who were unusually rambunctious in the lobby. Large and noisy dogs (we couldn't hear them in our room) who no doubt enjoy roaming through the woods, but whose barking and play are incongruous in the lobby of a luxury hotel. This seemed to be a constant issue every time we walked through the lobby. It is not enough to stop us from staying here in the future. This is a "mountain resort" worthy of the name.

Room Tip: I would ask for a room with a view of the mountain.

Thank you for taking the time to review our property! We all appreciate the kind words, and I apologize for the behavior of any dogs in the lobby. We have a very good relationship with the pet owners that stay on property. Most of the time the dogs are very well behaved. I am happy to read you will allow us another opportunity. We appreciate your business and look forward to your return.
