Started morning drive from Mission Viejo south OC as a leisurely drive to get to Lake Tahoe the following day. Skip Bishop and go to Mammoth Lakes. Hotel at entrance to Mammoth Lakes and is about 4.5 hour drive from Mission Viejo area. Set back from the road enough to avoid traffic sounds and feel a little secluded.

Checked in and then headed to center of Mammoth Lakes for some dinner. Just a short drive away with easy parking. Only planned one night because we were going to spend the next day at Yosemite sightseeing and then end in Lake Tahoe. If you are going to Yosemite then I suggest you drive straight through and stay in the park as you cannot see all of the important Yosemite sites without it turning Into a grueling day of travel. Yosemite still an hour and a half from Mammoth Lakes.

This is a standard Motel 6 with dark carpet, colorful design bedspreads. The bathroom very nice and clean. The shower head I wish I had at home..very nice spray. The building looked nice and clean and looked like they have been putting money into it to keep it nice.

Good to stay here for good value as well. Why spend $135 plus 14% tax OR MORE for one night right in Mammoth Lake since it's so close anyway. If you book directly on website you can get a Sr discount and sometimes AARP or AAA. Including tax we paid $96.

Schafft's Bakkery across the street as a plus.

Comfortable stay.

We stay at Motel 6's a lot because they are pet friendly. This one was better than average. The girl at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. The place got very crowded, even during the week, so I'd reserve a room at least the day before.

**Take Note**- there is a sign at the front desk warning you to not leave food in your car because the bears came out of hibernation early due to a mild winter and are really food motivated. They'll break into your cars. Well, some idiot didn't read the sign or care and left a cooler on the hitch on the back of his car. Next morning, it was shredded and the bear (at least 6 ft tall if it stood) was looking for food in the dumpster which is ADJACENT TO WHERE YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO WALK YOUR DOGS!!! So, seriously, don't leave food anywhere. I even took the dog's food out of the car. And bring a big flash light with you to walk the dogs to look for bears!!

Stayed here enroute from Yosemite to Palm Springs. Large motel but welcomed by friendly front desk staff - helped me with Laundry change. Very quiet and peaceful night given its size. Pool was out of use. Fast wifi but $2.99 for the night. Motel is set back from the road but be careful not to miss the entrance drive. Room clean and compact! Dinning options are expensive even with the 10% discount coupon provided by the front desk. Mammoth Lakes has resort pricing! Pricey.

We didn't expect much from a Motel 6...no shampoo, no breakfast... But the place was clean, the pool was nice and the price was right. The place is a bit of a maze. I always seemed to get turned around on the hike from the parking spots I found to my hotel room. The location was good otherwise.
