“Looks very nice...but that's about it...”
Reviewed 31 May 2014

First let me say that I've recommended to my spouse that we stay where we usually stay when we visit Philly, the hotels by the airport, we drive so getting downtown isn't an issue. I caved in we chose this hotel. This is a classy looking hotel. The room was very nice. The decor fit our taste. That said, it was pretty much it. The parking was 52 dollars for a 24 hour period and while it's "valet" with unlimited in and out privileges, when I asked about alternatives they told me about a 32 dollar cost of the parking garage across the street. Thank you kind sir, thank you for neglecting to mention that it does NOT have in and out privileges thus costing me an arm and a leg just to park there for a bit over 12 hours the first day. Customer service fail. Also, how does a hotel this classy looking doesnt even have pay per view? I mean sure, it has some basic cable channels but common now, this is 2014. Now let me mention the master fail. One day me and my wife get dressed to go drive to brunch. Call the valet and the wait....wait for it..... is 45 MINUTES. Are you kidding me? The design of the area where the valet pulls up is 2 lanes wide and during checkout dozens of cars block the way. Yes I may be from NYC and like to think things should happen fast but the "out of towners" casually have conversations and slowly pack their cars while dozens of people wait. Oh, almost forgot, the dining room service is brought to you by.... Chilli's....across the street..... so many things wrong with that.... would rather stay at the Aloft or the Four point sheraton by the airport for less money....

Dear KEVIN88GT,

Thank you very much for choosing Courtyard Philadephia Downtown during your recent trip to the area. Please accept our sincere apologies for the incomplete communication which you received from our valet parking staff. While we do offer our guests the option of self park, our staff normally makes guests aware that this does not include in and out privileges, and we obviously failed to communicate that. We do understand that waiting for your car can be very frustrating, and are continuously working towards improving the speed of service. We appreciate your comments about our Room Service, and are exploring other potential options available to us which could provide the same speed and quality which we have received from Chilis. We do hope that you will stay with us again in the future, but regardless, we appreciate your loyalty to Marriott.

My girlfriends and I stayed overnight in connecting rooms to celebrate my birthday! Reception staff very nice and helpful. The rooms were lovely and my girlfriends and I admired the decor in commom areas and in our rooms. Plenty of restaurants to choose from in walking distance. The next morning my girlfriends and I partcipated in the Annual Philadelphia Cancer Walk, afterwards came back to the hotel to shower thanks to late check-out. One of my best birthdays ever, can't wait to come back and stay at the Courtyard Philadelphia Downtown!

We stayed here for my daughter's Irish Step Dance Competition. Great room. Maggie loved the pool! The room was lovely with a view of Macy's outside - which was perfect as we stayed Thanksgiving evening - Black Friday was just across the street!

A good Marriott property in Center City Philadelphia. Well furnished and good staff. Convenient to the nearby Convention Center. Nothing distinguished about the hotel but a good value for location and quality of the property. No complaints at all on this one.

Room Tip: Take a room with a view of City Hall.

Dear wrmdispatcher,

Thank you for staying with us at Courtyard Philadelphia Downtown during your recent trip to the area. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed our excellent access to the Philadelphia Convention and found our hotel to be a great value. Our hotel is actually an historic building built in 1926 and previously served as City Hall Annex. In 1999, Marriott bought the building and completely modernized it to convert it to a hotel. We do look forward to your staying with us again in the near future.

Took a family trip to Philly and had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Great location near historic sites, Reading Terminal Market (fabulous food options), and other restaurants. Very close to LOVE statue as well. Very clean and updated. Kids enjoyed pool, although shallow 3ft whole length. Enjoyed having a Starbucks on premises. Parking is pricey in area. Best to book a pkg.

This was by far my favorite and quite possibly the best Courtyard Marriott in the US. The building is an historical landmark and right in the heart of downtown Philadelphia. Breanna, our front desk receptionist, went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed! My wife and I will definitely be staying here the next time we visit Philly.
