The Marriott is a good base for sightseeing in Philadelphia on weekends. A wide array of restaurants are in easy walking distance from the hotel as are Rittenhouse and Washington square parks. The historic attractions are in Old City which is walkable, but a short cab ride or mass transit may be more comfortable, same holds for the museum district. The terminal market and Chinatown are next door as is the convention center. This makes the hotel very busy during the week, and strains services - particularly valet parking. There is a municipal garage across the street which is safe and convenient as well as a few dollars less expensive than the hotel garage.

Restaurant on site is good, staff is friendly. Room service menu is okay too, but with so many good restaurant options in the city, why settle?

Easy access from the airport to hotel by the train. I enjoyed my stay at the Marriott on Market Street and from the back entrance, just a few steps to the wonderful Reading Terminal Market.
Friendly, helpful staff. Room was clean with good size bathroom. Centrally located within walking distance to the Historic District and many fabulous Restaurants.

Room Tip: Enjoyed the higher level floors

The hotel was very nice; clean and right downtown but everything cost extra. $40 a day for parking? That is robbery. Internet was another $20 per day. I guess it is geared for big companies that don't care how much employees spend on an expense account. It's a shame because it was a great hotel but I won't be back due to these over the top charges.

Room Tip: Some rooms are far but you can ask for one in the main tower.

My room looked like half of it had been decorated in the early '90's and the other half more recently. The patterened carpet was truly horrifying, especially viewed late at night after a few drinks. It also was not as clean as I've come to expect from big chains like Marriott. I'm not a clean freak, but I travel a lot for work and get nervous about bedbugs when I see grime around the edges of the room. Not that I've had any issues, but anyway. Plus, there was no mini-fridge - a feature I like since I travel with healthy snacks. Regardless, I was very happy to be staying at this hotel because I was attending a convention at the PA convention center and it rained constantly, so it was SO convenient to be staying in this hotel, with its inside walking bridge to the conv ctr. And, the bar and restaurant areas were really nice (don't eat at "13", though - pathetically bad Caesar salad), and it was close to everything in downtown Philly, particularly the Reading Market. So, on balance, it was great, but not perfect.

While attending a conference in Philadelphia last week, I enjoyed my stay at the Marriott on Market Street. My favorite features: everyone was very friendly, our room had a nice sized bathroom, it is centrally located in the city, within walking distance of the historical section, connected to the Pennsylvania Convention Center, the Reading Terminal/farmer's market is right across the street where there is a wide selection of local foods, and lastly the hotel has a Starbucks in the lobby which is always a plus!
