The Marriott Downtown is near the Reading Terminal Market. Fabulous prices at restaurants in the market. Cheap fresh fruits and veggies, and rare Amish made cheeses, fresh fish market, beef, and chicken. A Maggiano's is across the street as well as a Hardrock Cafe. The staff is friendly and security roams the halls. This is a great location to also view historic Philadelphia.

Room Tip: Choose a room in the Headhouse tower.

I hosted a business event at this venue for 35 people. The meeting space was perfect and my needs were addressed immediately upon request. When I needed a last minute Kosher meal for a guest it was no problem. Hotel was easy to work with during planning stages and they were flexible with rental and guest room costs. I would highly recommend for a business situation.

The room is average, with standard three star hotel bedding, bathroom and the stinky coffee machine. The best thing is the pool. We used the pool twice during our stay. It is a small pool but enought for kids to splash around. However the water was filthy, and the lady who watched the pool scolded my children not to splash water around in the pool. Hello? Do you realize this is a pool and people are supposed to splash around? Regardless, it was still wonderful to have a pool in the hotel.
There are plenty of parking garages around, so we didn't use the hotel parking. Hard Rock Cafe is right next to it. We walked in at dinner time without reservation and got seated almost right away.
All in all, I would recommend this hotel because of its convenient location and the pool, but I urge the management take better care of the pool and have a convention with the staff about customer service.

We spent one night at the hotel touring some of the sites in Philadelphia. The hotel is great. It is a short walk to the major historical sites.
The complaint of many of the reviewers is the high cost of parking at the hotel (over $45.00 per day). We looked online and did a search for parking garages close to the hotel. We found one, Central Parking, two small blocks away, printed a coupon and paid $18.00 for 24 hours, tax included.

I stayed there in Feb 2012. Our room was small but it had everything I needed. The location was excellent as it's mentioned in the name of the hotel. There are plenty restaurants nearby. Valet is expensive but that's nothing unusual given the location. Cab ride to the train station is short and inexpensive (around $10).

The location and room were great....it was clean, spacious, near a lot of great tourist locations and restaurants. However, once you turn off the light, the modem behind the TV blinks...all night.....non-stop.....I mentioned it to the staff who said they'd tell management, but since all my colleagues had the same issue, I suspect it's just something they have no intention of dealing with. As someone who has trouble sleeping, blinking lights are not something i can ignore.
One other comment - the wireless access was very pricey - about $14...and parking was $38. That brought my 'great rate' of $159 before taxes, to over $212! Not such a great deal anymore
