“Great Room, Location, Pool”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

In the center of the city, easy access; amazingly quiet. Wonderful pool. Concierge lounge was only ok, always crowded, noisy, rushed food. Not pleasant for a quiet moment away from the day's activities. Staff very kind and helpful.

Typical Marriott hotel; nice rooms, nice service, clean etc.

A fabulous location for exploring Philadelphia on foot.

My one complaint - I am a Platinum Elite, and always reserve 2 rooms because we have another couple who always travels with us. Marriott ALWAYS sends the Platinum gift to the room occupied by the other couple; not the room occupied by me and my husband. How hard it is to get that right?!?

Helpful Hint: Try the restaurant Green Eggs, about a 5 min walk from the hotel - AMAZING breakfast options!!!

We stayed just last week and had a great time, good location for both tourist attractions and shopping, really friendly staff who could not do enough, would certainly recommend to others. My son loved the pool facilities a great treat in this wonderful weather

I am in the hospitality industry and travel a fair amount. I offer reviews as appropriate and do so to express appreciation and possible suggestions.

We were attending a national association meeting in March and this hotel has an excellent location near the convention center. Registration was smooth and our room was pleasant, if a bit ordinary. We had breakfast and dinner in the hotel on different days and the service was attentive.

My observations on "An average experience - less than expected at Marriott" is based on 2 experiences. We were given contradictory and very poor walking directions to Chinatown by 2 different staff (door attendant and valet parkers) and ended up with a 30 minute walk with an eventual taxi ride as the directions were so off. There were three of us and we all heard exactly what was mis-communicated.

The 2nd is the very rusty hinge on the bathroom door in room 1113. I told the desk about this on day 2 who said they would take care of it directly. When I checked out on day 4, it was still there. Normal maintenance should have addressed this, as well as daily housekeeping inspections and the occasional supervisor quality check.

Not a bad stay, but at best an average experience. These are not Marriott standard.

"

Room Tip: Be aware the corridors in this hotel can be confusing, as it very spread out.

Thank you for taking the time to comment about your stay, the hotel’s great location and the friendliness of our staff. I would like to apologize for the poor directions you received and for our inability to follow-up on a simple maintenance issue. Your feedback is vital in our continued effort to improve our guests’ overall experience. We appreciate your business and look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back in the near future.

Great hotel! Great Location! What more could you want! You are just steps away from all the great Philly sites and only have to cross the street to explore the fantastic Reading Market. The rooms are great! Very comfortable sleep.

Only complaint: Marriott needs to join the new millenium and offer free wifi to hotel guests in the rooms.

Comfortable stay in crowded hotel on a busy weekend. Love that location makes everything so accessible by foot. Breakfast brunch is not what it was at this hotel years ago but it was an enjoyable stay. Room wasn't special but it was comfortable and clean and quiet despite being near elevator.

We come into Philly at least twice a year. We always stay at the Marriott. It is so close to many of the things we like to do. Walking distance to South Street and Walnut Street shopping. Reading Market Terminal is right across the street!!!!
