“horrible experience:( mouse!!!!”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

Our experience started off badly, we walked in and had to stand and wait while 2 receptionists finished there conversation, (apparently bad mouthing the manager), they then went on to complain about a parking ticket. we stood and waited, we still were not acknowledged or greeted. when the receptionist checked us in she was very uninterested.
we got ourselves settled, was woke by thunderstorm after 3am, then we noticed something moving about the room! turned on the light and discovered a mouse running from one side of the room to the other!!! I phoned front desk to inform them, again receptionist was extremely uninterested! told me house keeping doesn't start to 7am, we weren't offered a change of room! needless to say we checked out about 10 minutes later:( I expect a full refund.

Room Tip: get a room without a mouse!!

Found this hotel last minute on a road trip. The staff was polite and helpful, prevented us from getting a ticket before we even checked in! Yes the rooms are small but they have everything you need and are clean. I am sure that when ALL the bathrooms are done ( I understand they are about halfway through) they will be awesome! If you plan on having a family of five that wants to sit in the room and play video games then you should stay home, this hotel gives people exactly what they need a clean working room in a great neighborhood for a very very good price. If a little noise will be difficult then get a room in back or use ear plugs , that is the nature of the area and any hotel there would have the same problem. Fantastic value all around!

Room Tip: Get a room in back if you really have to sleep.

We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and I thank you for your review. You are absolutely right; we are just about half way through the renovations of the bathroom and when we are completely finished, everything will be great. I definitely hope to see you back soon. Thank again!

The bed was comfy, and the room was relatively decent. But, there is no excuse for mildew in the bathroom around the tube. I will attach a photo. This was room 403, and I hope this review will help get this issue fixed.

I apologize for the inconvenience during your stay regarding the mildew in the bathroom. Unfortunately this was a housekeeping oversight and the problem has been correct. I truly hope that you will give us another opportunity to so that you can come back and experience the greatness of our hotel and staff.

Arrived early before check- in to see if room was available, but was not due to renovations . When we returned we had no problems and room was much larger than expected for such a older hotel. This room has recently been updated and looked great. Also had a Keurig coffee. There was outside noise, but nothing hotel can do about that. There is a good cheesesteak and pizza across the street. Overall a good experience.

The hotel is very conviniently located in proximity to historical district as well as to shopping disrict. There are many nice bars and restaurants arround including 'Chops" at the same street, where you can get very good burgers of Kobe beef.Rooms are clean and comfortable with fridge and coffee/tea machine .Lobby very spacious and modern. Staff gave us a map and some advices where to start our one day visit. Very good value for the money. Worth recommendation

I booked this hotel because of the central location and because I often stay in Choice Hotels so I only paid for half of my three night stay. The rest was paid in points. I probably wouldn't have stayed had the hotel not been one and a half blocks from the hotel where most of the guests of the wedding I was attending were staying in. The location is hands down the best part of this hotel. If you just want a bed and don't care about anything else I'd highly recommend it.

That said, the place was weird. Two worst things that happened - there's no sign out front so when we arrived at midnight we had to drive around the block 3 times before we found it. And when we checked in there were gross stains on the bed (I'm sticking to the story that they were makeup stains although they were dangerously close to a rust-red color). After finally finding the place and switching the sheets for the first night the rest of the stay was adequate.

Other weird things: the smallest elevator ever - serious claustrophobia and if you have one of those oversized suitcases it may not fit in the door. The beds & tv's and everything were brand new, but the bathroom hadn't been touched in years. The shower was tiny, tiles broken, toilet literally askew. I would have much rather have had a newer shower than a new TV. everyone at the hotel was nice and always helped when needed, but they were very casual and often not at the front desk, even in the middle of the day. We had a nice sized room but there was no seating besides the desk chair - it wasn't a problem at all it just made the room look weird when you walked in.

All in all, had there been a sign and clean sheets on that first night this would have been a solid 3 star review. In all honesty its really a 2 1/2. It serves its purpose, but go in knowing that it won't be a 5 star experience.

This place was a great value for the location. It is very convenient for exploring Center City Philly on foot. Hotel is in old building but is being nicely updated and was clean. Room and bathroom were small by American standards but suited us fine for 3 nights of resting tired feet. Our room was in the back of the building so no view to speak of but was completely free of noise from street or other guests. There is no bar or restaurant in the hotel, but there are tons of places to eat, drink or shop at every price point within a few steps of the front door and a Starbucks right across the street.

I would definitely recommend it to anyone that wants to stay in Center City without spending a small fortune. It's not fancy but was pleasant, clean, and safe.
