“Really nice....”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2014

Chestnut Hill Inn is a wonderful small hotel. Beds are comfy- really comfy. The room itself was big enough and squeaky clean. Bathroom was pristine.Hotel was quiet---we heard no street noise and no hotel noise in our fourth floor, street-side room. Breakfast, which is dubbed continental, includes make-your-own waffles, cold cereals, bagels, pastries, hard boiled eggs, etc. Dining room is set with pretty china plates and china coffee mugs. Receptionist is helpful. There's a restaurant, owned by others, onsite, and another next door. Indoor farm market across the rear parking lot and nice shops nearby. Only two small faults with the hotel - no coffee maker in the room and the marble bathroom floor is slippery when wet...two issues that could easily be solved by management. We loved it here, and would stay again, the next time we're in town.

Dear tbwYorkCounty_Maine,

Thank you for staying at the Chestnut Hill Hotel. We are so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay and appreciate your feedback. While we do not offer coffee makers in the rooms, coffee and tea are both available 24/7 in the Bombay Room on the first floor. We are sorry that you were not informed of this at check-in. We apologize that the bathroom floor was slippery. We use honed marble, which is less slippery than polished marble, and bath mats are provided in the bathrooms. Our staff prides itself on cleanliness and service and we are happy your room was clean and that the staff was helpful. The bed is Simmons and you can call 1-866-926-8233 and give the location code, 65-443, if you would like to order a bed for yourself.

The Market at the Fareway, currently open Thursday and Friday (9am-6pm) and Saturday (8am-5pm), is located in the rear parking lot and a variety of vendors are featured there including Poppy Seed Café (a coffee shop), Ranck’s Deli, Yu’s Produce, Shundeez Market (mediterranean), The Brunette’s Bakeshop, Philading (vegan, gluten free), Florum Flowers, Metropolitan Bakery, and more. For additional information, please call the hotel at 215-242-5905.

We hope that you will stay with us the next time you are in the Philadelphia area.

If you're traveling to Philadelphia and hoping to find an historic hotel in a quaint town near the city you should stay at Chestnut Hill Hotel. The hotel is perfectly maintained, is right in the center of the small town, and has a restaurant and bar adjoining the property. Break included with your room is served in a lovely dining room off the lobby. For those of us looking for the old, unique, quiet or quaint this is a true find. Hope you enjoy your stay. Karen

I stayed in the Postal Building and it was so comfortable, clean and designed in such an unusual way. Remnants of ancient postage stamps adorned a wall and blind in this very contemporary setting. The bathroom fixtures and details were some I would like to have at home.
The market in back and the colorful chairs and halls outside bloomed with color. A very good stay.

Dear BJfiber,

Thank you for choosing the Chestnut Hill Hotel. We are thrilled to hear you enjoyed your stay in the Post Office Building. When we remodeled the hotel two years ago, we wanted to preserve the history of the area while incorporating a more modern feel. It is wonderful to hear you saw some things you would like in your own home. If you need any information about where to buy the items you are interested in, do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to having you stay with us again.

I must have to say this hotel is NOT close to Central Philadelphia. Its about 15 miles.
The hotel was very cozy and staff was very friendly and nice.
The room I stayed was 402 very comfy, although small, it had a desk, free WIFI and HD TV
Hotel offered free continental breakfast with waffles, eggs, yogurt, bagels, coffee and juices, nothing crazy, yet neat.
we also had dinner at the restaurant adjacent to the hotel, Chestnut Grill, the food was very good and the waitress very polite, we were very pleased with our choice.
My 2 major complains about this hotel were: 1. when I dropped my cell under the bed and I saw all the dirty and dust when I got down on my knees to try to get it..... it was disgusting! looks like the cleaning lady only vacuums around the bed! Nasty, Nasty and 2. rooms are not sound proof which means we could hear some of the action going on in the room behind us.

Overall I recommend this hotel, it looks like it was renewed and everything looked new. I went to Philly with my husband for Memorial Day Weekend and the hotel was perfect for us. It's located in a very residencial area with shops around.
Bonus Points: hotel offers Free Parking!

Had stayed at Chestnut Hill Hotel about 3 years ago and promised ourselves we'd go back. I tried booking online but was told it was full. Phoned directly and got our 2 rooms. Stayed in the main hotel the first night: nice room, quiet, clean, comfortable bed and very friendly staff . We had stayed in the carriage house on our first visit so asked if possible to switch the next day: they were very accommodating. Spectacular, unique room! Loved the area with many shops, cafes, bakeries and a brewery-restaurant nearby. The local market next door is a real treat: had lunch there one day. As well, it was an easy drive into Philly. My advice: 1) phone direct if online says it's full, and 2) request the carriage house, if available. You won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: I recommend the carriage house as the rooms are quite unique.

Great place to stay with good access to SEPTA and Center City Philly. Very friendly staff and clean and well maintained rooms welcome guests with easy ubiquitous internet access. Lots of good restaurants, including the hotel itself and Paris Bistro next door (you will need a reservation!) in charming Chestnut Hill. We love staying here.

Such a beautiful Unique Hotel!
It was such a treat to stay over the past weekend at the Chestnut Hill Hotel.
Not only are the rooms original and fun, each in their own way, but the property is amazing! There is a fantastic farmers market on the property booming with great, delicious food to cater to every need.
Each room in the hotel is diferent, giving it personality, a story and history. Our room had a skylight! What a treat to wake up and open it (electronically) to have natural light. It also had an electrical fireplace and a bathroom that included both a tub and a shower.
The property also includes a restaurant which houses a Jazz Bar!
All in all, its a stay that feels like a real vacation.

Hi DianiSafdeye,

We are so glad to hear you had such a wonderful experience at the Chestnut Hill Hotel. Each room is different and we are pleased that you enjoyed waking up to the natural sunlight. We have two annex buildings, the Carriage House (4 rooms) and the Post Office (5 rooms). The Carriage House has warm wood tones with historical artifacts, including parts of an original stable, and clawfoot bath tubs, white marble bathrooms, and fireplaces. The Post Office has a 50s, or "Andy Warhol-esque" theme and three rooms with fully-equipped kitchenettes for long-term guests that include a microwave, garbage disposal, cook top, refrigerator, a toaster oven, dishes, pots, pans and silverware. We look forward to having you stay with us again and hope that you can explore more of our rooms.
