We stayed in the Loft Suite and had an intimate Valentine's Day party. The hotel was very clean and unique. My daughter also had another room in the hotel that she agreed was also very nice. The staff was super and even offered to bring us extra chairs for our guests. I would recommend this hotel and will surely stay here again.

Room Tip: The Loft Suite is a great place to entertain

Dear DazzlinD,

Thank you for choosing The Independent on your recent visit and for commenting on your recent stay.

The Queen Loft Suite is a personal favorite of mine, and I'm so glad that you found it comfortable enough to have a nice get-together and entertain friends. I am also pleased that our staff was helpful in making sure you and your guests were accommodated with everything you needed to have a good time. Be sure to come back to Philly soon...Pottstown isn't too far at all!

Sincerely,
Dan Vetrano

Close to Independence Square and the Reading Station Market. We walked to both. Also walked a bit further to Pat's and Geno's Steaks from the hotel.

Rooms were great and clean.

Traffic noise noticeable at night (cars honking, sirens blaring).

Room Tip: We were in room 503 (top floor). It rained at night and window area leaked water across nice wood floors that were starting to show water damage (warping).

Dear erryberry76,

Thank you for choosing The Independent on your recent visit and for commenting on your recent stay.

I am glad you were able to discover how many great attractions can be reached on-foot from our hotel. I'm also glad you tried Philly's famous sandwich, the cheese steak, from the legendary Pat's and Geno's. On your next trip, feel free to book with me directly and I will personally assign you to a room with less street noise. Happy travels!

Sincerely,

This is a very nice little hotel. Clean and friendly, the beds are very comfortable and the rooms nicely decorated. You cannot beat the location-- right off the PATCO subway station, blocks to the historic district, easy walk to the museums and South St. Good restaurants/nightlife in the immediate area. It is also nice that they will deliver a light breakfast to your room at the time of your choosing. My only hesitation are the bathrooms--- we had a stall size shower in our room which is a definite downside for me, and the sink had a slow drain. Other than those minor details (and personal preferences); a great place to stay!

Dear erryberry76,

Thank you for choosing The Independent on your recent visit and for commenting on your recent stay.

One of my favorite things about our hotel is that you can walk to most of Philly's most popular attractions, and I am so glad you took advantage of our amazingly convenient location. It seems like you got to see quite a bit of the city! Please feel free to contact me upon booking your next reservation with us, as I'd be happy to assign you to a room with a larger shower. Hope to see you again soon!

Sincerely,

The front desk staff was incredibly friendly, although the service was a bit slow--it seemed like there was only 1 person working at a time. The hotel was really cute. A few of the fixtures seemed a bit old (peeling plastic on the light switches in the bathroom, for example) but overall the room was very nice. I loved the high ceiling in my room.

Thank you for choosing The Independent on your recent visit and for commenting on your recent stay.

I'm glad you enjoyed the charm of our hotel and spaciousness and comfort of your guest room. I am sorry to hear you found service to be a bit slow at times; it's true we have a small staff but we are always trying our best to accommodate our guest's needs as promptly as possible. We hope you will choose to stay with us again the next time your travels bring you to Philadelphia, and thanks again for your kind review.

This charming hotel was in an excellent location - a neighborhood, but close to good restaurants and attractions. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, but it was the staff that made this hotel extraordinary - not only willing to go the extra mile, but anticipating the extra mile before we did. On Sunday, after we were technically checked out, we watched a parade which passed in front of the hotel. Nick (the concierge on Sunday) appeared at the sidewalk several time to bring water, ask if there were anything else we needed, check on our multiple taxi arrangements, and even walk one of our party the two blocks to meet her cab! Would stay here again in a heartbeat, and will explore other hotels in this network in other cities.

Dear quinntheeskimo,

Thank you for choosing The Independent on your recent visit and for commenting on your recent stay.

It's wonderful that you enjoyed our neighborhood, and that you found our hotel comfortable and convenient for indulging in Philly's burgeoning restaurant scene. Nick is often praised for his willingness to go above-and-beyond for our guests, and I am delighted to hear how much effort he put in to making sure you had everything you need to be comfortable during your stay. This is the kind of stellar service that our front desk staff prides themselves on, and I know Nick will be happy to read your comments. We hope you enjoy exploring the other Independent Collection hotels, and please come to see us again soon!
