This tour introduced us to an area of South Philly with which we were not familiar, but we came away with lots of information and full stomachs. Our group was lucky to be invited into a Vietnamese Buddhist temple; this was an honor and a bonus! We were fortunate to have Robert as our tour guide. He is smart and funny, and it was a pleasure to spend the afternoon with him. This was our 2nd food tour with City Food Tours, and we look forward to joining them again. The personal attention is exceptional! Highly recommended for both tourists and locals.

“great afternoon!!!”

I am from Philly, moved 15 years ago. My neice and her boyfriend took me on Flavors of Philly because they know how much I miss my Philly foods. It was a fabulous Tour.-Cheesesteak, Tomato Pie (my personal favorite- which-BTW... NOBODY knows what a tomato pie IS outside Philly), soft Pretzels, chocolate covered pretzels and 4th Street cookies (in Readind Market) yet another highlight of Philly. Gotta experience Reading Market! This was well worth it. Highly recommend this tour. Christina (our guide) was exceptional, Too) A MUST DO when in Philly.

“Fun tour with plenty of food!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 August 2011

After much research, we decided on the "Flavors of Philly" tour...which included 1/2 cheesesteak sub, shared cheese fries, 1/2 slice tomato pie (thick - Chicago style), 1 soft pretzel, 1 chocolate chip cookie and plenty of chocolate covered pretzels. We (3 females) we all stuffed by the end. I actually couldn't even eat the cookie & saved it until later. There was a certainly a good amount of food.

We met @ the meeting place and departed on time. Our guide Judy was great....friendly, pleasant, knowledgeable. She immediately made us feel comfortable about asking questions and saying whatever we wanted. It was a very comfortable atmosphere, and there were plenty of opportunities to stop & take photos, or even use the restrooms...if need be. Our group was small - the 3 of us, 1 other couple and Judy. It was perfect.

There was a bit of walking, but certainly nothing tiring. We stopped at a few sites along the way, and Judy told us some history of the buildings, statues, etc. We also visited Reading Terminal Market as part of the tour. This is a great spot for fresh foods, fruits. veggies, and pretty much ANY type of food you could possibly want - fresh or prepared. PLENTY of places to grab meals & desserts.

As far as the food on the tour, (mentioned above), we liked the tomato pie best. Basically, it's pizza w/o cheese. We all felt that the tour was a good value for the money. Not too long, several stops, little bit of history and a friendly tour guide.

“Fun facts and food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 August 2011

We met up with our group in front of Darlings cafe which, is located across from the free parking lot where we parked our car.
Our tour guide Christine, was wonderful. She was knowledgeable as she shared stories, history facts and made everything interesting!
We toured five different establishments as we walked the streets learning fun facts about the city. We had bubble tea, homemade jalepeno poppers along with chips and salsa, hush puppies, fried green tomatoes, three cheese mac and cheese, fabulous tater tots at the bowling alley. We finished up with a wonderful light banana cheesecake.
This was a great tour that I would recommend to anyone who wants a fun way to eat and learn about Northern Liberties and its wonderful transformation.
