We headed to Philly for the weekend to see 2 nights of concerts at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden. On a whim, we decided to "Name our Price" and caught an excellent deal ($100/nt) for this 4-star hotel. We were quite pleasantly surprised throughout our stay. Each member of the staff was nice and helpful along the way from our arrival to departure. Willie, the Bell Captain, assisted us with our bags upon checking in and gave us the low-down on the building and area. He even made sure to find us as we left to say goodbye.
We found our room (2 double beds) to be spacious, bright, clean, odor-free and comfortable. There were no noise issues. The heating/cooling system worked without problems.
As other people mentioned, the location was great. For our purposes, we were close to the Ben Franklin Bridge to get to the concert venue and back. The hotel is a couple of blocks from the Reading Terminal Market and Convention Center. Plus, there are tons of stores, convenience stores and drugstores in the area to get little things you might need.
The concierge was super helpful as I tried to map out a run. I went for a 5 mile run in the morning and was able to get to the Philadelphia Museum of Art and back and even did a lap around the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, surrounding parks and back. The entire route was safe and populated with other runners.
Parking at the hotel is a little expensive at $45/nt ($38+tax), so after feeling the hurt night 1, we opted on night 2 to park in the garage across the street for $8 for the night.
I'm a simple traveler, and my friends and I just really needed a bed between our days of concerts. The added luxury was a nice touch for us (especially for the deal we got), but would be most welcome if we had been staying for a more touristy-type visit and needed the time and space to relax and rest up. I would consider staying at the Loews Philadelphia again.
