Great location, along the river and around the corner from a lot of history, restaurants and places to just pop into if you don't mind walking around.
The hotel is comfortable and staff friendly. The wine bar is amazing, with a Guinness World Record for the most wines on tap. The morning breakfast is substantial with a liberty bell waffle maker.

Penn's View is on Front Street--once 'the' street for shipping and commerce. Now, directly west of I-95 so don't spend more for a balcony room! you won't want to open your window even if you are street side. We had an oversize suite which had a window that opened to the open center section. not noisy. great self-serve buffet breakfast each morning included. Pricey? Nothing inexpensive in Phila. Pay parking lot next to hotel--$23. for 24 hours. Our room was $200. per night plus maybe $45. in taxes (outrageous, but consistent with big cities). Phila has a good bus service so if you don't need a car for travel, use the buses directly outside the hotel. We'd stay here again if we have to be in Phila.

Room Tip: skip the balcony and outside-no views, lots of highway noise

Nice hotel in Old City area. Waliking distance to a lot of history. We had a king size bed with jacuzzi tub, room was spacious and clean. All the staff was very cordial and polite. If I had to say anythingm negative, it would be the traffic noise at night from the Interstate that is nearby. Parking ia right there at the hotel for a fair rate considering a major city. There is a great continental breakfast buffet available every morning with everything from waffles to fresh fruit to eggs, muffins, juices, coffee, cereals and more. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: ask for a room away from the front of the hotel if you want to have your windows open

Have stayed at the Inn several times. Once for an anniversary, once with a friend, and another time for business. Great location and the fact that the bar is nice and cozy and right down stairs is nice.
Breakfast wih the room has been spotty, but good if you get there early.
Great location for visiting historic sights.
Only suggestion if you are lugging bags ask for help, the hallways are old (historic) and there are steps to go up and down to get to your room on some floors!
You do feel a world away!

Room Tip: Higher floor. See if you can get a view of the bridge.

Called in for a same night reservation for 2 nights based on a Baedeker travel book tip. We got the last available Jacuzzi queen room and were relieved to have a late check in possibility.

Staff were friendly and helpful at all times, reception is covered 24 hours and the whole hotel had an olde worlde kind of atmosphere.

The room and the bed were both massive and we had absolutely loads of space to unpack. The decor was a wee bit dark and seemed over shaded with heavy curtains and upholstery. To be honest the Jacuzzi bath was not that inviting, possibly due to dim lighting in the bathroom, but the shower was absolutely fine.

The Internet was a bit erratic but was sorted during our second day. The complementary coffee and water in the lobby was a nice touch. 24 hrs parking was available at a rate and the parking lot guy was extremely keen to be paid in advance and in full for the whole stay before we have even got the suitcases out of the boot! Somebody here mentioned free parking - well we didn't see any.

Breakfast was fine and we enjoyed a leisurely time in the restaurant on both mornings

The location was great, close to bars, restaurants etc and we absolutely fell in love with Philly it's a great place to visit. We would recommend this hotel for it's reasonable rate and it's originality. You will get a good nights sleep and it's clean and well maintained

Friendly staff, nice rooms in a historic building and a good breakfast.
The neighborhood is good except for the very close interstate which brings the only negative thing of the stay - the road noise (must depend on the room, in ours you couldn´t open the windows because of that).
All together a good stay.

We spent one night at this great little historical hotel near downtown Philly and it was a great experience. Our room was comfortable ,was not overly large nor overly small but was well appointed and not overly expensive. It's a very historical hotel and it's been around for several hundred years, as has been the city of Philadelphia. The breakfast that came with the stay was a fantastic meal in one of the restaurants where they had set out an entire buffet of make your own waffles , fruit cereal ,poached eggs , a variety of breakfast items, all included in your stay.
This was a great experience and I would recommend this hotel to anyone who's interested in living part of the history of Philadelphia.
