The staff are very friendly and helpful. Considering the cost of renting a car and paying for parking, the location was key for me as I actually saved money by staying in this location, close to my work. It is a bit pricey for a Travel Lodge but everything is within walking distance and the service was really great!

We checked into the hotel late at night and went to bed. Upon getting up in the morning, we realized how dirty our room was. There was hair in the bathtub, on the toilet, and on the bathroom floor. There was shampoo on the tub floor where it had been spilled/dumped or whatever and you see it. The floor in our room had food deposits on it, where it looked like someone had spilled/dropped food and it wasn't cleaned up. Like when you drop something and just picked it up but did not try to shampoo or wash that area. There were remnants of crumbs or something on the floor and paper like our room had not been swept since the last guest.

When we tried to take a shower, our tub drain would not drain and I was standing in almost a foot of water when i was done. My wife had to wait til later to take a shower because it took almost two hours to drain. The female desk clerk was bitky and smart assed with me when i went downstairs to ask for another room. She told me I would have to pack everything up on their cart and bring it down to the front desk and leave it at the front desk and if a guest checked out, they would allow us to switch rooms later. She said we had to do this so they could rent the room to someone else that had booked because they were booked up.
I told her i was not going to leave my belongings in the lobby all day while i went to the convention center and she said: "well, I guess you dont want another room then do you?" The next morning when we got up we saw at least a dozen rooms with the curtains open, indicating that the rooms were empty. So, the clerk lied to me.

The safe in our room didnt work either as it kept saying the battery was dead. There was food deposits on the curtains in the room also. The carpeting just felt gross, made even more so by the fact that we could see food, paper bits, etc on the floor. By the way, they have no parking here, you have to find your own parking in one of the nearby lots. Breakfast consists of sugar frosted flakes and raisin bran, cheap nasty banana and blueberry muffins and apples. The first morning there was no orange juice and the second morning there was no coffee left.

Another wonderful fact, there is a an open area that goes from the first floor to the top floor of the hotel. Which means, you hear the hotel room doors open and shut on all the floors of your room. At 630 one morning, we could hear a couple yelling at each other, and it wasnt on our floor. You can the desk clerk talking word for word to a customer if you are on one of the higher floors. The sound travels all the way up to the roof. It was impossible to sleep after 6am any day because you heard every door open and shut and every person talking no matter which floor you stay on. Oh and the homeless shelter is next door, if you dont mind everytime you go outside to have a homeless person walk up or past you.

If you stay here after this post, I have no sympathy for you if your stay is horrible.

Room Tip: bring a fan to cover up the noise and your own cleaning equipment to clean your room, because they w...

This is a terrible hotel, our hotel room had hair on the floor in the bathroom, food crumbs on the floor like the room hasn't been swept since the last guest stayed, and I took a shower and the tub did not drain for over an hour. I was standing in six inches of water at the end of my shower. It was still draining an hour later.

Hotel was in easy walking distance of the attractions and subway/train station. One negative is that a homeless mission was next door but it was not as bad as I would have thought. Rooms were nice and clean but I wish it had a microwave and fridge.

We stayed here for 2 nights and let me tell you, This place is wonderful for it's location and it's staff members. Right when we checked in, our rooms were nice and cozy. The location of the hotel was close to all the sightseeing sights. Love Park was only 15 minutes away walking and Chinatown was right next to us. Needless to say we pigged out heavily. The continental style breakfast was all we needed to get our day started and the wifi access was definitely an advantage. Will have to stay here again the next time i'm in philly!

Room Tip: Rooms on the upper floor are quieter.

We stayed 2 nights n September 2012, the welcome was friendly and informative about transportation services - we had no car. The room was clean and spacious enough for a city centre hotel. Breakfast was basic. Our room window faced the Convention Centre but was quiet during night hours. Ice was readily available and fast wifi.

Room Tip: Try to get a 4th floor room on the street side.

I recently stayed at the Travelodge in Philly and had an overall good experience. The room was about average; but the room and bathroom were very clean and the bed was comfortable with 4 pillows provided. No microwave or fridge in the room (didn't miss them) and like the title says "no frills." My main complaints would be that the water pressure from the shower was low and there was a beeping noise in the mornings - not sure what it was; but as my room was facing a lane it could be the removal of a dumpster. Now the good points: The check-in staff were all very cordial and helpful in providing information. The houskeeping staff were also excellent. The location was perfect as it's across the street from the Convention Centre, very close to the Broad St. subway line and other lines, on the edge of Chinatown with numerous restaurants within short walking distance, close to the Reading Terminal market (about 50 eating/drinking/food sellers businesses), and not too far from the historic area. The complimentary breakfast was very basic with not much more than coffee, oj/apple juice/milk, cereal, and bagels and muffins. The hotel looked like it had undergone recent renovations and the elevator, hallways, and lobby areas look like they were newly carpeted. All in all excellent value for money and would recommend to anyone not looking for all the bells and whistles.

Room Tip: If possible ask for a room away from Race St. or the lane running alongside the hotel's eastside...
