“Love Park”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

Lots, lots, lots of harmless homeless folks. Once you see the Love statue you are done and be ready to be disappointed. It has some graffiti on it so not everyone loved it.

There is a vistor station there that sells normal tshirts and tickets. Got a livingsocial coupon for 8.25 for 20 in souvenirs.

“Nice Greenway in the City”
Reviewed 25 June 2014

I've made a few trips to Philly this summer and each time, I make time to go to Fairmont Park to walk, run, rollerblade, etc. I love how the park goes throughout various parts of the city, such as the Boathouse Row. You get to take in scenery and learn about another piece of Philadelphia history.

Fairmount Park in Philadelphia is the largest landscaped urban park in the world. It occupies some 9,600 acres and is comprised of a system of 63 parks. Part of the system of parks is Fairmount Park (proper), which was begun by Robert Morris, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence; it originally began at his residence at Lemon Hill. There is a number of historical homes that are well-maintained and open to the public. Included in the park also is the Centennial Hall, built to celebrate the country's completion of its first century in 1876. Fairmount park also includes the country's oldest zoo, The Philadelphia Zoo; its oldest botanical garden; a famous waterworks; two river drives on each side of the Schyulkill River; two musical venues, the Mann Music Center and the Robin Hood Dell; Historic Boathouse Row; innumerable sculptures; and a collection of cherry trees larger than the famous collection in Washington, D.C. There are iconic vistas and sights to be seen all along the Kelly and Martin Luther King Drives, as well as from the Belmont Plateau. The Valley Green section of the park, surrounding the Wissahickon Creek, is worth a side trip to the Germantown and Chestnut Hill areas. The Valley Green Inn is a restaurant and catering establishment with a venue for parties and celebrations. It is located on the Forbidden Drive, with no private cars allowed, making it a prime area for walkers, joggers and bikers (and the occasional police car). Between April and October the river drives are also closed to cars during daytime hours, clearing them for sports activities. The Fairmount Park is a great place to spend time, relax and unwind from travels to the more urbanized parts of the great city of Philadelphia. It is important to note that in such an extensive park, there are areas that have all the typical comforts and accommodations, while others have been left pristine, so it's important to check out the specific locales you plan to visit to prepare, so that your visit will include the comforts you prefer and facilities you require.

“Beautiful park, great running path”
Reviewed 21 June 2014 via mobile

Although we have visited Philadelphia at least half a dozen times, my husband only discovered this gem when he was here on business -- so today we made it a part of our getaway weekend. Beautiful vistas on the Schuylkill River, charming Boathouse Row, a view of the art museum, stately monuments along the way -- and unsurprisingly, lots of other happy runners, walkers, and cyclists. Can't wait to get back out there tomorrow!

“One of this City's jewels!”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

Did you know that Fairmount Park has 9000 acres? Central Park only has 900 so that will give you the scale of this place. It is a wonderful gift to the people of Philadelphia. The Touch Me Museum for kids is also located here. The park is a popular place for fireworks in July. So much to do that you couldn't name it all here.
