Great place, friendly and fresh. Stayed 2 nights and wish I could stay more. Always something on and a very safe environment.

It was really a nice place with very friendly staff. I suggest everyone to give it a try if you ever wanna visit philly. The hostel was super clean, and the management was perfect. They also checked my student ID when i checked in but i am not sure if non-student travelers can also use the hostel or not. They have a nice living room where you can enjoy watching TV and talking to people. We also had a free beer night and a walking tour around the downtown. In general, i am very satisfied with my experience with Apple Hostel. To make the long story short: This is "THE" place to be !

Room Tip: All the rooms are clean, you do not need to worry about the room's quality.

Spent two night here in August 2011, and we were delighted by the experience. This is all you'd expect from a hostel (a bed in a big dorm, shared bathroom, common areas), together with everything you'd hope for : helpful staff happy (in some cases, eager) to advise you about where to go, spotless kitchen and bathrooms, comfy beds. And then, there's the thoughtful little extras, from the free earplugs to the organised events every night, the numerous plugs, the individual lights for each bed, the little baskets hanging from each bunk so you can store your iPod, book etc, the brand new washing machines that don't tear your laundry to pieces. The concept of the couples dorm, however, continues to puzzle me. From the couple (boy stark naked) found spooning this morning to the two girls currently sharing one single bed (but sleeping widthways?!), it seems the guests are confused too. Certainly makes for funny stories.

I found the Apple hostel to have a nice atmosphere and also provides a safe place for lodging. I stayed in the dorm room and it was well ventilated and super clean. The staff can provide you with all local info and they organized daily siteseeing, pub crawls , movies if thats what your in to. The location is great for a 1st timer to Philadelphia- most of the 'historic sites were a short 5 minute walk, a metro station was around the corner, and the Ben Franklin Bridge was in the neighborhood too. The hostel had lockers readily available -bring your own lock. A kitchen to ake prepare your own foods and a TV room for movies or sports. The price was very good and I sensed the staff really cared about customer service and it shows as everything works and organized.

So I stayed at this hostel for 4 nights in my East Coast adventure. I was on the top floor in one of the larger dorms and the room itself was very spacious and clean, the bed was fine and the hostel itself was cleaned everyday (The kitchen closes at 11m for a couple of hours so make sure you get in before then.)

Location wise - Its in a really nice/trendy part of phily so nightlife is great and there is an amazing ice-cream place two mins away and an amazing Pizza place (Lorenzas) which are musts. Its also 5 min walk from the LIberty Bell etc and a $2 bus ride from downtown. The hostel is literally opposite a club - I thought this would be a massive problem and was suprised (and so relieved) that the earplugs they provide you with actually work. I think if your a really light sleeper it may be an issue though.

Staff are really friendly, you can ask to put movies on, they do tours. When I stayed the people staying there totally ranged in ages but there was a really nice atmosphere.

Overall great stay - the wifi was touch and go though, breakfast also basic but fine if your happy with cereal/oatmeal.

I was visiting Philadelphia for a weekend. Since I had gotten used to staying in hostels while traveling in Europe, I decided to save a few bucks and stay at the Apple Hostel. It was a very good decision!

Very clean, friendly staff, nice common areas, and free wi-fi. Only down-side is that it can get rather noisy on nights when the club across the street is open, but they've got earplugs at the reception (since people are bound to be snoring anyway :-p)

My stay was actually pretty okay. The hostel is clean and in a good location for exploring most of the tourist attractions in Philadelphia. The receptionists were very friendly in answering questions I had about Philadelphia.

The people who stayed at the hostel at the time aren't necessarily all travelers or backpackers. There was a convention in town and some of people staying in the hostel were not travelers with stories to share, per se, as I saw them in business attire and mentioned to me that their business in Philadelphia is for the convention. Additionally, I saw many of the patrons on their wireless devices in the common areas, glued to them for many hours, which isn't really conducive to the social atmosphere that the hostel should be. I do realize that the last sentence is outside what Apple Hostels can really do about the guests.

Additionally, on 3rd party hostel reservation booking engines, the hostel claims to have 16 beds each in the male dorm room and the female dorm room, when in reality, this number is higher. There was still plenty of space in the dorm rooms. However, it is disappointing to be paying so much for so many people in the room.
