“Great location, friendly staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2014

We feel fortunate we stumbled upon this great small hotel in one of the nicest sections of Philadelphia. Small but very functional room, very helpful staff. Continental breakfast included was nice but not overly impressive.

We stayed for two nights and were impressed! The hotel is located very centrally and within walking distance from many many restaurants, bars and shops. We came by car and the parking is about 2 blocks away - there is a parking lot outside the hotel where you can park for up to 2 hours, so we parked the car there, unloaded our luggage then drove to the car park. The car park is not part of the hotel, but they have a deal where if you stay at the Alexander you only pay $15 a night (much better than the $30+ normally for overnight). The rooms were a decent size and good bathroom. The aircon is ok, but not that cooling so ended up opening the windows instead. The only drawback is there should be somewhere to hang your towels in the bathroom. Other than that, they had handy guides for where to have lunch, good restaurants etc in the lobby. The breakfast is continental - bagels/toast etc, but good to start the morning. And nice touch if you stay more than one night they print name cards for you with the hotel address on them. Do stay - the location is great.

the room was clean and the complimentary breakfast was a nice touch. it was a little of walking distance to public transport etc. but given the comfortable stay we didn't mind it at all. they also provide you with a sheet of nearby attractions and restaurants which was super handy.

We decided to stay here because the reviews were excellent, and the price was reasonable. In addition, the location was great . . . right in the historic districts. The staff were very helpful and courteous. The decor in the lobby and dining area was beautiful. The room was small, but very comfortable and beautifully appointed. We were within walking distance from all the major historic sites as well as many dinning choices. Parking on the street, even to check in is a bit difficult, but once you get that accomplished, they have arranged a great discount with a parking garage a couple of blocks away. The price was great for Memorial Day weekend when many of the major hotels were booked completely, and rooms left at those places were going for $50 - $100 more a night. The Alexander Inn is a gem in the city of brotherly love!

Room Tip: We booked a standard room, but had 3 LARGE suitcases as we were on a two week trip, so the staff su...

Decided to stay here during a snowstorm in Philadelphia. Room was smaller then what I was used to, but it was clean and neat. Breakfast in the morning was a nice added benefit. Had access to a 24 hr fitness center. Only complaint was no room service and in a snowstorm I had to trek out to get something to eat nearby.

Stayed at The Alexander Inn for five nights from 14 May- 20 May. Great location as has been said in the other reviews also very friendly staff. We had a room on the top floor at the end of the corridor (room 708) it was quite a large room and very quiet. The room was clean and well maintained plus the bed was very comfortable. The complimentary continental breakfast gives you a good start to the day of sightseeing in this beautiful city. Well done all at the Alexander Inn.

A good location with a short walk to the trolley system and excellent service. The accommodations were clean and the front desk assistance was most welcome. The breakfast offering was sufficient to last the a.m. of touring with fruit and snacks available most times throughout the day. Most importantly, the price was right for the location with an abundance of fine eating establishments within walking distance. The wifi was good and did take the opportunity to use the in-house computer center.

Room Tip: Request a room with bay windows and located on the upper floors away from adjoining HVAC systems.
