This is a very comfortable, well located hotel. The rooms are a decent size and nicely furnished. Breakfast was good with a reasonable amount of choice. The staff were friendly and helpful too. Good place.

The Alexander Inn is in a perfect location from which to explore Philadelphia - walking distance from public transport to/from the airport, the visitor centre and all the major sights, as well as some great restaurants/wine bars.

Whilst the rooms are small, by American standards, they are equivalent in size (but much better appointed) than the average Australian motel room and about twice the size of some of the rooms we have stayed in in Europe! Despite the central location the Inn was very quiet and we had restful nights sleep in our street facing room. The public areas were also well appointed and provided another relaxing space to chill out.

The service provided by all the staff was attentive, friendly and unhurried (you really felt that you were the only person/thing they had to worry about). One particular staff member went above and beyond assisting my wife and I when we discovered on the night before travel that we could not take check in luggage on any of the available train services to New York the following day.

Our only regret is that we were only there/in Philadelphia for 2 nights! Hopefully we will be back some day for a longer visit.

Enjoyed our stay while in town for a wedding. Wonderful location close to South Street shops and restaurants. Room was very small but adequate for our needs. Front desk staff was extremely helpful. Continental breakfast was served in quaint lobby area.

My husband and I spent 4 nights at this great place. The rates are very reasonable for the location. I was told they don't raise prices for special events or seasons. We booked a deluxe King as I felt having the extra space would be nice. For those who have commented on the "smallness" of the rooms, I wonder if you've ever stayed in a truly small, European type room, where you can basically touch both walls from the bed. We had plenty of space. King bed, two night tables, a bay window with two chairs and a small table, dresser, small closet area with a safe, full bathroom.

The location was great. We were able to walk just about everywhere. We decided to take a Big Bus Hop On/Hop Off tour and the front desk arranged for a Big Bus shuttle to come and pick us up.

The staff was wonderful. We were always greeted with a smile, and hello.

A continental breakfast was available. We opted not to do that as we typically prefer a hot breakfast of bacon and eggs to sustain us throughout the morning.

I really enjoyed the Alexander Inn. I loved the charm of being located in an actual neighborhood in Philadelphia with tree lined streets vs. in a business district, PLUS it's walking distance to the visitors center and all the historical attractions. It is also just a couple of blocks off the Big Bus Tour line, so after a day of touring it was nice to get off the bus close to the Inn. We arrived in Philly early, went directly to the inn to park and drop off our bags and received a warm welcome. They even invited us to grab some breakfast which we did. We were only there for the weekend, so I thought the room was sufficient in size and it was certainly comfortable. A lot of charm, which I loved.

Room Tip: Higher up with street view
