“In the middle of it all”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 November 2013

Stayed here for a wedding and had a wonderful time. The king-size room was very spacious, with a modern desk and chair, sofa chair, and a giant closet, as well as the usual TV, wardrobe, and nightstands. The bathroom was very modern and clean. The room was very quiet, despite definite noise in the hallway, so I had a great night of sleep.

Very secure- you will need your room card to access the floors and there security guards at the entrance at night.

Parking is difficult and you will need to use a nearby garage or the valet service. This is a trade-off for being in the middle of Center City.

The bar is expensive, but has everything you could ask for: food, beverages, and a crowd.

Great place for a weekend stay or wedding.

Room Tip: Choose a sun-facing room if you plan to spend a lot of time in your room.
See more room tips
Green Features: Has the typical "we won't wash to save energy, water, and protect the environment from chlorine" door-hanging sign.

I was expecting much more from this upscale chain of hotels. It did not meet the standards of a 5 star property. The rooms were ok but not sparkling clean as it should be. The Shower needed a makeover also. If you want to spend this kind of money for a room, try another place in Phillie.

My son's wedding was 11/16/13 at the Sofitel. The staff, the wedding, and our stay could not have been better. The food at both the reception and the brunch was outstanding! I would highly recommend this property.

My husband and I ran the Philly 1/2 marathon on 11/17/13 and we stayed at the Sofitel the night of the race. We arrived at 6am, long before check in time to leave our car and bags. The staff could not be more courteous and helpful. They readily stored our bags, there was a complimentary display of drinks and breakfast food out for the marathoners and the hotel itself was lovely. After the race, we went back to the hotel at 10am with the hopes of just having a place to change our sweaty clothes before heading off to brunch. They were able to get us a room hours before check in and even upgraded us to a JR suite. They promptly delivered the champagne and strawberries my husband pre-ordered with the concierge upon our arrival. We even skipped our fancy dinner plans to just relax and order room service in the comfort of the room. Everything was great. I will be returning with the family for a weekend of sightseeing for sure.

Dear Krista S,

The Philly Marathon weekend is such an exciting time of the year here in Center City and we always look forward to our guests who participate. We do all that we can to accommodate our guests during such a weekend, and I am pleased you enjoyed one of our spacious Junior Suites and some of our delicacies from room service.

We certainly look forward to welcoming you and your family for a weekend of sightseeing soon!

Warmest regards,

Great hotel and great location. Very comfortable rooms and very good staff. All friendly and very helpful. Beds are fabulous and very very comfortable. The only down side is the noise in which the doors make when they close. Numerous times thorough out the night I was awoken with the hotel doors banging closed. Not directly done by the hotel but in the morning the house keepers did the same. Just allowing the door to bang and bang loudly it does. These rooms need some sort of buffing round the door frame asap

After having stayed at the Hotel Palomar (over the road from the Sofitel) the previous weekend we booked into the Sofitel on Philly marathon weekend as prices were more competitive. The Sofitel has large, well appointed rooms and is in a great location for just about anything. The staff were extremely helpful and the hotel laid out an early breakfast for the marathon runners. Given a choice between the Palomar and the Sofitel I would make the decision based on comparative price. The Palomar has a better atmosphere and the staff are more jovial. The Palomar is a nicer overall hotel.
