“Fine hotel in great location”
Reviewed 31 May 2014

As former Philadelphia-area residents, we admired this hotel since it opened and looked forward to staying here on a return visit. We stayed four nights in a suite, which for the space and amenities, was at a reasonable nightly rate. Everything about the suite was very comfortable. The accommodation was handicapped accessible, which meant the bathroom was almost too big but that's better than the alternative; we liked having two sinks. We found the service friendly and drinks generous in the lobby bar, and food good in the adjacent restaurant. The location is superb, close to Rittenhouse Square and some of Philly's best restaurants, bars and retail stores. We even liked all the "bon jours!" from every staff member.

Green Features: They are the standard most hotels use. Good for them!

Just spent three days at the Sofitel in Philadelphia, a hotel where I have stayed many times over the years. This hotel has maintained a top level of comfort and service, though occasionally I see signs of must and age. The hallway carpets, for instance. Also the towels. All could use an update. My one complaint: The coffee from room service could be delivered in a thermos that keeps it hot rather than the silver pitcher. Though lovely, the coffee loses its heat and heartiness after a quick 20 minutes. But the people at the desk, the bellmen, the concierge and others are all pleasant. The folks in the bar at night are nice and efficient and helpful. I recommend the Sofitel and consider it among the top tier hotels in Philadelphia.

Suite wasn't ready until 6:30pm. Obviously even though they didn't tell us this it was to air it our as it smelled like smoke and even worse the air fresheners in the room were disgusting. Also looked like outside of windows hadn't been washed in years.
Nice people at front desk. Baggage people nice, car valet not so nice. William the concierge was very helpful.

Dear FPM9911,

I am disappointed to hear that your experience with us did not meet your expectations.

Please know that we a are a non-smoking hotel, so this is certainly not our standard and not what we would want you or anyone else to come to think of the Sofitel Philadelphia.

I hope that you may return to give us the opportunity to offer the exemplary level of service we have become known for.

Sincerely,
Vincent

We decided to stay at the Sofitel in Philadelphia after a stay at same hotel in NYC. We loved the French feel. The room was spacious and came with all the amenities you would expect. The bed was very comfortable. Room was clean. Bathroom was also spacious. Staff could not have been more polite and helpful while not over doing it. There were a lot of shopping and places to eat close but it was a long hike to the historical district. Rittenhouse square was just around the corner with even more shopping and restaurants of many ethnic choices. My only complaint was that many were closed as it was Memorial Weekend which was a bit disappointing. The food at the hotel was very good but a bit limited choices for room service and wine was over priced. The closest liquor store was on 12th street with very limited selections. Valet parking was pricey and not sure what you would do otherwise. The fruited infused water in the lobby was a nice touch though after a long day of sight seeing. And they were very gracious to keep a large fruit arrangement cool for me until I needed it that evening. I would definitely recommend this hotel. And too, it is a pet friendly hotel although we were not traveling with our pet this trip.

Room Tip: We like very cold rooms and the air conditioner was not up to par for us....but understand we like i...

After an absence of a few months it was a great pleasure to return to the Sofitel in Philly. The usual courteous welcome at reception and a very comfortable and quiet room on a low floor combined to create a relaxed ambience. Next morning I enjoyed a tasty breakfast before heading off to a big meeting feeling in great shape. This has to be as good as it gets for a businessman just off a long flight and across several time zones. I am looking forward to my next visit.

Room Tip: All rooms are of a high standard.

Stayed in the Sofitel Saturday evening as my brother and family were visiting from Florida and they chose this hotel . First let me say the lobby and common areas are very clean and modern. The location is CLOSE too some of the more popular attractions (Liberty Bell, Consituition Center etc) but i wouldn't really call it within walking distance. The weather was nice and my husband and i enjoy the exercise but we walked over 12 blocks to get to the above mentioned attractions. The room itself (1008) had 2 double beds (requested) nice size flat screen TV, safe, robes, ironing board and hairdryer, the bathroom however (shower) did show wear (tiles missing, faded etc..) We did not care for the valet parking which is just outright robbery at close to 50 bucks per day!. So in closing are overnighter in Philly costs over 300 dollars to just park and sleep.....

Room Tip: We were on the 10th floor and our room overlooked another building so if you want a view of the city...
