“A Museum Not To Be Missed”
Reviewed 18 November 2013

A visit to the National Museum of American Jewish History is a must when in Philly. My husband and I spent 3 hours touring the exhibits, taking a docent led tour, and talking to docents about the museum's
history. This is an attraction that appeals to people of all religions and ages as it is an historical account of one religious minority's contributions to this great country. The building is a modern architectural masterpiece and a perfect venue for portraying our country's history from the beginnings to present time. The many contributions of Jewish citizens from colonial times to the present is amazing and illustrates how the American Dream can be achieved in this wonderful land of ours. Do not miss the Museum Shop which has an excellent stock of merchandise for everyone. The museum is right on the mall and easily accessible by bus if you are not within walking distance. As with all the wonderful historic sights in Philly, allow enough time to enjoy-you won't be disappointed.

“Interesting, but not for kids”
Reviewed 10 November 2013

We went with two kids because of a special exhibit on Ezra Jack Keats, but even that exhibit required far more reading than the kids would put up with. I think the history it relates is fascinating, but it felt much more wordy than most museums. If this kind of history is your thing, you'll love it, but if not, you might prefer somewhere else. And don't take kids.

“A great experience”
Reviewed 24 October 2013

Clearly, a lot of thought went into the planning for this museum. It is so very informative and information is given in logical and well presented form. Start on the fourth floor and work your way through the exhibits to the second floor. You will learn about both the Jewish and immigrant experience in America. The items in the gift shop are works of art. If you are looking for a Jewish oriented gift that is special, look here.
The staff are so very eager to help you learn and guide you through the museum. Allow four hours for seeing this at a pace that will allow you to learn and enjoy.
