“Lovely setting!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 April 2014

I attended a reception at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and it was a stunning venue. Located very near the Convention Center, it was an easy stroll from there to the Academy.

“A gem of a small museum”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 March 2014

I thoroughly enjoyed my recent visit to this museum. I went on a Sunday and found to my surprise that admission was free that day. The historical building that houses the permanent collection is very interesting in itself. The collection of famous artists and lesser known, talented students is a visual delight. I went back for a second look to snap pictures (no flash) of some of the most interesting pieces in the collection. The modern collection next door is also an enjoyable place to visit.

“community gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 March 2014

Check it out for its youthful, zesty innovation. It's on Broad STreet downtown but PAFA is starting to draw kids and the parents who drive them around to some snazzy shows. Lots for adults to look at and for kids to be involved with. Follow the 25 foot Claes Oldenberg paintbrush

This is a great place to gain an appreciation of American art history. Do not miss the fabulous stained glass windows by Violet Oakley and Tiffany studios.

“Of special interest if you like modern American Art”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 March 2014

I am not much familiar with the genre, so it was very revealing to me and my wife to discover some very good painters and artists. The building itself (outside and inside) is splendid too. If you are in a rush, it can be visited within an hour.
