This is a solid 4-star hotel, conveniently located across the art museum and is near City Hall (walking distance from many of Philadelphia's historical attractions). Service is attentive, and the hotel restaurant was quite good. Maybe it's that French influence! The soup and salad I ordered through room service had beautifully fresh, crisp greens, and the onion soup was quite good. They gave me a mini-loaf of French bread which was fresh and very delicious. Morning breakfasts seemed a bit understaffed, but the food was very good. Le Meridien offers an eco-friendly option of giving you a $10 credit each day you choose to skip maid service, which I liked. The only drawback or caution I would highlight is that the front entrance doesn't seem to have a ramp for handicapped persons, which I find curious, since the steps are fairly steep. The doormen are very attentive, so perhaps they try to make up for it that way, but I wonder whether folks on crutches or in wheelchairs might have to go through the side or back door. And as others have noted, it is a bit strange to walk into a hotel and not see the registration desk right away - instead, the first thing you see is the bar! But overall, this is a nice place to stay.
