This is the perfect location in Philadelphia. You can walk everywhere. We were on a short getaway, to celebrate our anniversary and to eat at a few places we've been wanting to visit in PHL. The check in was easy. Self parking was cheaper than valet and a short half block away but valet was super easy and handy on a snowy night. The room was clean, well appointed, and the anniversary gift was a pleasant surprise. I do not agree with other reviews that this is not up to Kimpton standards. It's a room in a city. Rooms are never huge. It was the perfect location and quite cozy overall. Loved every minute. Only negative was that the doormen were hit or miss and sometimes hard to find for help with luggage storage and car park. Also wish they would have had loaner umbrellas for the inclement weather.

I was pleasantly surprised by a series of very helpful emails before we even left home to make sure the type of room we needed was prepared just for us and ready upon arrival. The amazing concierge made certain our room was feather-free for my husband and very quiet for me as a very light sleeper. The hotel is small, quaint, friendly, yet upscale in the level of service provided. The small restaurant was perfect for our daily breakfasts (great omelettes)and a good choice for dinner one night. (Loved the salmon) However, our greatest pleasure was the friendly and helpful staff. From the conceriege, the front desk staff, the restaurant staff to the doorman- all were wonderful. The location was perfect for walking everywhere (in spite of the snowstorm) and we were able to safely walk back from the Kimmel Center one night and the Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter and Paul another night. Perfect location for touring on foot!

Room Tip: The concierge is more than please to prepare a room for you. Just let Ariella know ahead of your arrival and she will meet your request.

Not sure what everyone is complaining about it not being a Kimpton standard. All Kimptons are different, sure this is not near the quality of the Monaco (near Independence hall). But the location it is the best hotel. The we had the deluxe sweet and it was great, the staff was very friendly and helpful. My only complaint the restaurant, over priced and too stuffy. I mean late night coming back from a bar or club and you don't have club sandwiches on your 24 x 7 room service? Will stay again because this is perfect for a night in Ritten House Square!!

This hotel was fine, but really nothing special - it's basically a dressed up Holiday Inn with service to match. Nothing was better quality, just nicer design scheme ($2 shower head for instance). My king room was poorly configured and had no where to sit other than the desk. Since this is in the same price range as the Ritz nearby I will continue to go there in the future. The gym is tiny, there's no spa, there is only sometimes a doorman, etc.

Room Tip: King room is dominated by the bed.

Dear Lunsd2,

We appreciate your feedback but are bummed to read your comparison to a Holiday Inn! I know you said you'd prefer to try the Ritz next time but we'd love it if you gave us a second chance. Please feel welcome to reach out to me directly when you're headed back into town.

Kind Regards,

James

I spent three weeks in PHL and stayed at both the Monaco and then the Palomar. The Palomar was by far the better hotel - better location, brighter rooms, cleaner, and strangely, more reasonably priced. Reviews for the Monaco are more positive, so when we moved to the Palomar were were apprehensive, and then beautifully surprised.
The rooms are beautifully bright, clean and crisp - we had a Spa Room with a bathtub to die for. The staff were great, the location quiet and although the concierge service left something to be desired, the hotel was great value at about $250 a night. Also the location was fantastic.
The attached restaurant was also great for breakfast.

Dear Pia A,

Thank you for your very kind review. Our little sister, the Monaco, although beautiful in her youth and playfulness, can sometimes steal some of the spotlight. It's nice to hear that although we may be older (ahem, more mature), we've still got it!!

Kind regards,

James
