“a unique hotel with great truffle-buttered popcorn”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 February 2011

This is a really funky, interesting modern hotel in what was formerly a fairly nondescript older building. Their complimentary wine hour featured one of the tastiest snacks I've ever come across: truffle-buttered popcorn. Service was excellent. The rooms were not huge was adequate and nicely decorated. The location is ideal for all concerts/plays in Center City and with good access to public transit.

Stayed at the Palomar for one night to celebrate my husband's birthday. Living in the Philadelphia area we often stay overnight in town and have stayed at many of the first class hotels. Palomar is by far the best hotel in Philadelphia for locaton, amenities, cleanliness, and the list goes on. Everyone was overly friendly, the wine hour was terrific and the package we got ($1 extra for continental breakfast) was worth it. The rooms were spacious, but more importantly, very clean. Definitely sign up for the Kimpton In Touch program before booking - upon arrival we received a "raid the honor bar coupon for free up to $10" which apparently you get each time you stay at a Kimpton hotel (this is our first Kimpton). We will definitely stay at the Palomar Philadelphia again and will not hesitate to try Palomar's other locations. Thank you Palomar.

I've stayed in Kimpton Hotels religiously now for about 2 years. Hotel Palomar in Philadelphia has become one of my favorites in the chain. I took my wife for an anniversary weekend...dinner at Modo Mio, drinks at Bar Ferdinand, and a night away from home at the Hotel Palomar. When I made my reservation (online), I received a personal email from Abby Raymond, the Concierge, welcoming me BACK to the Palomar and asking if she could do anything. I inquired about handmade chocolates and after multiple emails back and forth, Abby had a wonderful box of chocolates from Marcie Blaine placed in the room with a bottle of champagne, a terrific fruit plate and a second cheese plate. WOW! She was awesome and really made the weekend truly special. THANKS ABBY!

I don't recall ever feeling compelled to write a review about a hotel unless something about it made me feel compelled to warn others to stay away. The Hotel Palomar is definately an exception. When I first stumbled upon the Hotel Palomar on the internet I was looking for a nice, convenient hotel in the center city area. Then I noticed that it was "pet-friendly" (we love to travel but hate having to leave our dog behind!). My wife didn't believe me so she called to confirm before we booked. The photos and descriptions of the hotel were very nice, so we decided to give it a try. We couldn't have been more pleased with the whole experience. We flew into Philadelphia International and the folks at Atlantic Aviation could not have been nicer or more accomodating, and were able to get our plane into a hanger for the weekend because of the forcasted ice and snow. Took a cab to the Palomar and our dog was greeted with open arms, and many treats, by the doorman. The bellman was extremely helpful in giving directions to the park, and delivering a VERY comfortable dog bed (we almost couldn't get her out of it), food and water bowls, and extra towels for use after those long walks in the rain and snow. The room was immaculate, room decor very impressive, lobby decor exceptional, and the overall architecture and quality of the restoration of the historic building was very impressive. 5 stars for cleanliness throughout. Restaurant and bar were top notch. Overall we could not have been happier with our stay and will definately book at the Palomar on our next trip, which we hope will be soon!

This was our first stay here at the Palomar and its absolutely incredible...from the bellman, to the front desk, to the room service all incredible. The room and views were great and a good value. Easy walking distance to so much in Philly.
Thanks for our stay and we'll be checking for Kimpton hotels wherever we travel.

My husband and I have stayed here 4 times for weekend getaways. It's the total package of location, service, value, and extras like the wine hour, that keep us coming back. I would not recommend the hotel for a long visit with young children, but for couples it's a home run. The spa tubs are a nice splurge.

The couple traveled to Philly for a short trip, PMA, the Bell and Independence Hal, food at the market and elsewhere. We booked on line which was snap and then had a follow up call to inquire about the rooms and general info. Reservation staff v accommodating. Easy to find 17th and Chesnut a couple of blocks from Rittenhouse--15mins to the market and 20-25 to the the Bell etc. Staff on arrival was great will suggest dining alternatives and offered without prompting to make calls for us. Gave directions when asked opened doors hauled bags basically the Kimpton folks do all the things that used to happen that don't anymore The room was on the 12th elvators well running, hallways were spotless and nicely appointed, as was the lobby/lounge. Room was on the small side-cozy perfect for two--very clean the carpet looked new--bathroom was immaculate and plenty of hot water and towels and robes too. Sleep was great-i am a light sleeper and we were located on the side of the hotel-i could hear street side traffic so i'd ask for a side or c]back room ifyou sleep lightly, Good pillows and matress. Wine hour in the evenings which was abig draw for the guests-staff kept the glasses filled. Am coffee and news great....Restaurant (1620??) was good service priced nicely and was well more than adequate but not likely to hit the Michellin guide anytime soon--still nice place to sit great service and comfort food cooked to order.
I'd go back in a heartbeat and we love philly too
