“Wow! Impressive and inspiring”
Reviewed 8 March 2014

This mural arts trolley tour was wonderful! Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of Philadelphia and its neighborhoods as well as the mural arts program and the murals themselves. I had no idea Philadelphia had such a rich and inspiring mural arts culture and it was great to see even a small fraction of the more than 3,500 murals that have been painted in the city over the last 30 years (not all of which remain unfortunately). From center city to west Philly, beautification murals to tribute murals, small walls to very large walls, these murals are impressive and inspiring to see. It is also wonderful to learn about what the murals have done for the communities in which they are located and to hear about the many programs offered - which range from those for truant young adults to the incarcerated. I highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Philadelphia!

“World Class”
Reviewed 3 February 2014

Beyond its renowned world class music & art, Philadelphia's spectacular mural arts have earned the same status. Monumental & vibrant, they signify the resurrection of a major city & serve a valuable social purpose as well by providing a legitimate outlet for restless but talented youth, recognized artists & even the incarcerated. That the murals instill neighborhood pride is confirmed by the lack of graffiti on any of the paintings recently viewed in some of Philly's grittier neighborhoods, although now that graffiti has gone mainstream, some of the authorized graffiti art seen on a recent tour is provocative as well.

A tour of the murals in an old-fashioned trolley (with large windows) is an unusually stimulating way to see parts of the city not usually visited by tourists or even those of us who live here.

“Great way to learn about Philadelphia neighborhoods- excellent tour”
Reviewed 25 January 2014

There is so much history in Philadelphia and lots of things to see but this tour is definitely worth while. The tour guide was very knowledgeable of the history of the project, the artists and the neighborhoods where the murals are located. After the tour, I find myself "seeing" murals that have always been there but I just hadn't noticed.

“Love Letters Train Mural Tour”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

This tour was very interesting, and we would highly recommend it.
During this 90-minute tour, the group gets on and off the train several times to view the murals and remains on the platform for about 10 minutes before boarding the next train. So, dress appropriately for the weather. The tour guide was extremely well informed about the history of the mural program and stories behind each of the murals.

“Walking tour near Drexel University..highly recommend”
Reviewed 29 October 2013

Our family of three took the walking tour called Murals and Sculptures on a crisp fall Saturday morning. It turned out to be a private tour--the rest of the group never showed up. Rich was informative about the neighborhood, artists and sculptures along the route. Our daughter is a student at Drexel at the medical campus and the tour stayed within 6 blocks of her classroom building. It was fun hearing about the sculptures that we had driven by or to have things pointed out that we had not noticed before. I think ithe tour gave her more meaning to her Philly experience at Drexel. Also, highly recommend the Love Letters tour this group runs. Looking forward to doing a bike tour with the group in the spring. (Thought the 90 minute tour was great from start to finish)
