As I write this, there is a free concert going on at the Piazza so the place is packed which is great for local businesses and a good vibe during daylight hours. Unfortunately, more people means more money which leads to crimes of varying degrees. People opt not to wait in line for the porta potties or use proper facilities at nearby bars and restaurants (which may mandate they be paying customers) and so the place becomes a receptacle for human waste. And, these people have no shame about urinating (or other activities) in public. Not everyone wants to see (or smell) your full moon.
Further, I saw 4 young boys (ages 6-10) brazenly stealing goods from shopkeepers around the Piazza. It may be that the prices are jacked up to cover losses due to pilfering.
The best season to be at the Piazza is during baseball playoffs when the weather is cooler. Of course, with this year's performance by the Phillies, it's guaranteed the Piazza won't be crowded.
