“Tasty BBQ”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 October 2013

The memphis ribs do not fall off the bone but are very tasty. I grew up with great southern cooking and these are ribs you can either have with the four types of bbq sauces on the table or eat without the sauce. They make a banana pudding however i dont think anyone can beat grandmas, it was ok but taste like whip cream added in pudding and I like my pudding homemade with soft cookies and bananas. Many of their speciality drinks made with fresh mint and very good. Would definitely go back to eat. Great service and clean.

“Not what it once was”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 October 2013 credit card Amex Cardmember Review

I loved this place when it opened. Philly has been generally devoid of good BBQ, and this place had decent dry rub brisket and excellent sauces. The sauces still are good - there are five on the table - but the tastiness of the meat has declined over time. The sides are probably the best part. I highly recommend the baked beans and mac and cheese. The service is very friendly and the atmosphere is what you'd hope for in a smoke house.

“Quality meats”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 September 2013

We ordered 12oz NY strip steak, Texas beef rib - both extremely good. The fries were sweet potato which is not mentioned. We never had fired green tomatoes before but if this is what they are meant to be like, we certainly wont be having it again! They had run out of brisket. The place was very busy. Pretty pricey for food and drinks. Service not great. Cannot fault the meaty goodness.

“Great Hideaway in University District Philadelphia”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 September 2013

Over the recent Labor Day weekend, I was in Philadelphia for a day and no one was cooking, so I did the next best thing. Found this little hideaway and discovered some great BBQ Chicken. There brisket is also tasty but cut to thick for my liking. They've also have some great beer on tap and the owner Johnny, bartender Joe and another (sorry forget his name) all are great guys and will treat you right. It's true! Philly is the city of brotherly love. lol

“Fair at best.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 August 2013 via mobile

A conveniently located restaurant in the University City area, serving U of P and Drexel. Service was OK - pleasant and efficient but food overall was mediocre. Biggest criticism is that everything was overcooked. Fritters and fries were virtually burned. Will not return.
