Description: Behind the wrought iron gate, past the herbaceous patio and through the atrium is Talula's Garden, the warm and elegant Washington Square eatery from Aimee Olexy and Starr Restaurants. The modern menu, prepared with carefully-sourced ingredients and a light European touch, changes with the seasons. The artful cuisine, hospitable staff, sustainable spirits, and a focus on cheese make the dining experience here incredibly memorable.

We were hosting a business dinner for a mixed group of vegetarian and omnivorous colleagues. Talula's Garden was a good solution for a group of diners with various dietary preferences. They graciously allowed us to push back our reservation due to a late-running meeting, and gave us our choice of tables in the Garden. It was stunning out there, I would definitely try to sit outside if the weather allows. The food was good, but not as interesting as what I expected. It was a surprise to me that I enjoyed the vegetable selections so much more than those with meat! Usually I'm one of those people who prefers her vegetables with meat in them. The service was fantastic, too. Very professional and accommodating of all our requests.

An impromptu evening out last Friday in Center City Philadelphia, PA for my husband and I took us to a great little restaurant called Talula's Garden. We had never heard of it before, but what a great place! It has a great outdoor seating area that has a real "garden" feel to it, but it was fairly hot out so we opted for indoor seating. Surprisingly, it felt like a garden inside too, especially the bar area, where we were seated. The food was outstanding! I had filet which was mouth-watering. My husband had a fish entree (don't remember which one) and he loved it, and he isn't shy about saying if he's unimpressed with the food. They had a great selection of various cheese plates for appetizers that we enjoyed a lot. Our server explained that the food served -- whenever possible -- is sourced locally (from PA) and often organically produced, which we really liked. The service we received was excellent. In fact, our server couldn't have been nicer when we realized we needed to hurry out to get to the theater. We were enjoying our meal and the atmosphere so much, we started to relax a little too much and forgot about the time -- a nice compliment for an obviously well-known, busy place (it was packed -- I'm surprised we got in!) Talula's is a great choice anytime you want a great meal in a charming, relaxing place!

Just having landed from a flight from SF, we asked a Hertz worker for a good restaurant nearby. He suggested Talula's.
As we strolled up we were happy to see outside and inside dining since the evening was so nice. The restaurant is very interesting inside. We didn't have reservations of course but we were seated quickly. We started with organic tomatoes and anchovies, delicious. I had a watermelon margarita, spicy and very nice! My daughter had chicken under a brick and it was succulent and tasty. I had pork belly on the bone with chimichurri on a bed of fava beans. Superb! The chimichurri was really a good chimichurri! Dessert was cheesecake with strawberry sorbet, one of the best cheesecakes we've tasted!
If you are in Philadelphia, this is a must!

Friends insisted we had to eat at Talula's Garden during our stay in Philly. Very glad we listened. The space (both indoor and out) is beautiful, the noise level perfectly acceptable, and the food was truly extraordinary. We are told they have a new executive chef and he certainly knows what he is doing. We had the tasting menu with the wine pairing. The gnocchi with cheese, ham and black olive dust was among the best dishes we've ever had. After having been briefly overlooked after we were seated at our table (from which they recovered beautifully), the service was faultless on all levels, and Josh, a manager who poured the wines for us, made the dinner a fascinating journey with his knowledge of both the food and the wines. Can't wait to go back!

Talula's is a beautiful restaurant , with nice special occasion ambiance. We loved the cheese plate (there are many options to choose from, we took the Tour of Spain). We were happy with the bottle of red wine we ordered. The doughnuts dessert was great. Awesome service - very attentive. There was a confusion with the order, and the wait for food was a little long, but we got our one first course and also 2 sides on the house, all restaurant's initiative, without any complaint from our side. Not five stars because the food, although very well prepared, did not have the wow factor. Delicious main courses of swordfish and filet. Tuna crudo - the melons are nice, the tuna tastes bland without salt. The side of potatoes also needed salt. Overall, would come again. Cheese plate, wine and dessert were favorite parts of the meal.
