I recently visited Woodford Mansion, one of the historic summer "country houses" that were built by Colonial Philadelphians. While it just looks like one of the many historic houses in and around Philly, it is surprising on the inside. The house has a fascinating history and every room is filled with period antiques. It is architecturally quite unique with a number of details I had never seen before. Our tour guide was friendly and had so much to tell us about the house, its historical owners and the antiques. It's located in the Park about 15 minutes from downtown, so you need to take a car or taxi.
