“Great hotel to stay at for visiting U Penn”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

I absolutely love this hotel. I have stayed there twice while we visited U Penn. The rooms are very nice and you can't beat the convenience to great restaurants nearby and the school. The staff is very friendly and accomodating. It's about 15 minutes to the Philly airport as well. I highly recommend staying here!

I was in town for a large conference that was headquartered at the Philly Conv Center. Staying downtown or anywhere closer to the Center was not an option because of how late I made my reservations. The Inn turned out to be the next best location. The one-block proximity to a subway stop made getting back and forth to downtown a breeze, even late at night. Lots of quick places to grab a bite (like Cosi for breakfast) helped as well. And I walked to/from the University City regional rail line stop to the hotel with my rolling luggage. It was only several blocks (with a great view of Penn's campus along the way), but those who are less inclined to ride the rail and to walk from the station could take a taxi from the airport. The hotel staff were helpful and sufficiently attentive; rooms were very clean and "green"ish (lights and thermostats were easy to control); and WiFi worked well for me. Overall, a quiet, pleasant, and comfortable stay with no complaints.

Green Features: In the right direction for sure. Hotel encouraged less towel washing and bedding changes, lighting was easy to control, not incandescent. Thermostat worked well.

Thank you, Sologuytraveler, for the detailed review of your recent stay, and for the high marks. We are indeed just a short walk (or, as you mentioned, a subway ride) to downtown Center City. Please stay with us again soon.

If you are visiting campus, this is the right choice. It is located just a few blocks from the main buildings in campus. It has around several places to eat and drink ranging from coffee shops to specialty restaurants. It also has a nearby library with plenty of stocks, pharmacy among others. Few meters away you have the train station, also bus lines available. If you want to walk, about 35 min (5 km) and you are at downtown Philadelphia (Independence Hall/Bell). Also, it has nearby several tracks to run. The hotel itself is very comfortable, rooms are very well sized and clean, service is very nice. Overall an excellent choice.

I was only in Philadelphia for an evening before travelling to Delaware in the morning. This hotel was located within a 15 minute drive from the airport and was close to the highway, which made for an easy drive out in the morning. The accommodations were very nice, clean and comfortable. While I did not use any of the hotel amenities (other than room service), they seemed to be readily available and high quality.

A very good business hotel, right on University of Pennsylvania campus. A short walk to 30th Street Station (Amtrak), moderate taxi trip to airport. Plenty of interesting restaurants nearby. Stylish design, good public rooms (large "library" and other areas on the main floor to hang out and use the free wifi). One drawback -- nothing is open after 11 pm -- no food, no bar, no room service. So if you arrive late at the hotel (11 pm!), your only choice is vending machine soda. Very comfortable beds, upscale bathroom, good lighting and switches, plenty of outlets for your gadgets' chargers. Pretty high priced, though.

Room Tip: Don't locate near the elevators -- they are very noisy.

I stayed here for a business trip. It was a perfect location to walk almost anywhere. Extremely clean, great fitness center. Hotel location next to lots of restaurants and shops. Very happy with stay in University City at the Inn at Penn. I was also allowed to check in at 8am after taking the red-eye that was the best!!!

The Inn at Penn was a fantastic hotel, worthy of its high rating on TA. They didn't have our reservation, but found it after 20 minutes. I had booked our room through Priceline at a great rate of $112, but it turns out our room was listed under another name. Not only were we given complimentary breakfast buffet vouchers (a $20 value per person), they also sent up a bottle of wine with a cheese and fruit platter. I can't say enough about their customer service, simply the best!

The bathroom in our room is one of the nicest anywhere. Wish we had that at home. We had a beautiful king room and complimentary internet is always a plus. I loved how all the hotel directories were accessed from an I-Pad in the room, very cool. Sleeping was very quiet on this Saturday night. The breakfast buffet was very good in the morning. Valet parking was $39.

Room Tip: Top floors are better.
