We loved everything about our stay here - beautiful and comfortable room that had had every possibility of the guests' needs considered. Breakfast was delicious (though beware that some items like omelets and wafflesmay carry a surcharge). Many thoughtful extras like very yummy choc chip cookies and complimentary wine happy hour. Service was excellent and very obliging.Great location for us, just around the corner from the Curits Institute of Music wih fabulous free student concerts, and convenient for downtown Philly -though the historic district is more of a hike away. Only drawback was the background roar of the city which must be difficult to escape in this area. Very highly recommended.

Rittenhouse 1715 is a gem - warm friendly but professional service, terrific location just around the corner from Rittenhouse Square and a two minute walk to the shops on Walnut Street, quiet rooms furnished with Frette linens and robes, Molton Brown bath products, extremely comfortable bed - and a terrific breakfast of fresh rolls/bagels, cereals, breads and juice, all included in the room rate. A terrific find,

I really want to give Rittenhouse 1715 an excellent review. There were only a few minor issues that I will mention later.
First of all, the hotel is really charming, nice and boutique like. The service is excellent. You could tell as soon as you walk in that it's a special hotel. The rooms are nice, modern bathroom (superior rooms) and you could tell that things have been renovated. The beds overall OK (see below).
We loved the breakfast downstairs (yes the China doesn't match but it's still nice). We loved the wine hour.

The front desk people and housekeeping are excellent.

The issues:
-The first night there was in a room on the third floor (322), there was a fairly elevated noise coming from next door, we were told it could be the heating system for the whole hotel. You couldn't ignore the noise. They couldn't move us because they were full.

-However, the next day we were promptly moved to a very quiet room.

-The bed in he first room we had was comfortable, not so much in the second room. Maybe it's just me.

-The wireless internet was not reliable. It would disconnect or slow down frequently.

I think I would come back to this hotel, for a night or two, maybe try a deluxe room or something, but I wouldn't try count on using the internet.

My husband and I stayed in a Junior Suite (Room 309) on the third floor for two nights in January 2011. The room was beautifully appointed with a skylight in the bathroom and very quiet. The location is excellent, close to restaurants and shopping. Renee and others at the front desk were very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely stay at Rittenhouse 1715 for future visits to Philadelphia.

We had a great stay at Rittenhouse 1715 recently for a family birthday. Our entire extended family stayed there and everyone had a great experience. They really went out of their way to provide us with great service, from greeting us after midnight when we arrived and carrying our bags up to our room, to the Fiji water and chocolates, to the great desk service. They even asked if there was anything special they could do for the birthday girl, and bought a special type of wine for the wine reception just to suit her preference (there is a complimentary wine reception every evening).

We enjoyed the breakfast at the hotel, nothing fancy but what was there was good (breads, coffee cake, fruit). The rooms are quite nice as well. The bed was very comfortable. Overall we had a great time. It really does feel "boutique-y," like a quaint European bed and breakfast. I think the value depends on what you are looking for--if you like that type of ambiance, you will find it worth the money, but if you are looking for out and out luxury a la larger chain hotels, you might be disappointed.

The hotel is of course in a great location to explore downtown Philly, but we found the street it was on to be pretty quiet actually and peaceful.

It is perhaps adequate as an aspiring B&B, but falls short to be in the same category as a hotel. Check-in starts on the sidewalk when you pull over to the curb of the townhouse. No private drive to stop a car and unload. With hands full, we were asked to read policy and sign a form, present CC for the online reservation already using our CC number. Broken thermostat hidden behind a chest, shower switch engineered as a "faucet lip"... that required a written instruction how to use.
Heating in our room worked on "high" only. So we turned it of and used blankets instead. The beds were tucked so hard, as if stapled.
Window was located near the ceiling giving an impression that we were in a basement.
Our room was crowded with useless furniture and upright fan. The floor light turned itself on in the middle of the night...
The counter top "bar" ... priceless. The "lavish continental breakfast"... only for diabetics. Most choices loaded with sugar and sugar substitutes. A bowl fruit composed of mostly caned fruit with significant dose of preservatives and sweeteners.
Reporting our impressions to the front desk clerk generated ... "oh, so sorry..."
With almost no guests, we ended up occupying basement like cluttered room?!

We visit Philadelphia often and the 1715 Rittenhouse is by far our favorite hotel. The rooms are charming and extremely comfortable and feature all the modern conveniences. The service is friendly and always helpful. The continental breakfast that is included in the room rate is served in a delightful little "cafe", and features products from local shops in its foodie neighborhood. The location is excellent. It is adjacent to Rittenhouse Square and walking distance to all of the sights in Philadelphia, as well as to wonderful restaurants and shopping.
