“Hop Angel has great beer!”
Reviewed 13 May 2014 via mobile

Stopped out on a Sunday and they had two bands playing alternate sets. Bands were ok ... No cover. Service was a little slow at first but got better as we became more friendlier with the waitress. Nice beer selection. Wings and burgers were good but not great for the price. I would avoid the desserts, they look good but were average tasting. I will be back to sample the rotating beers on tap but will probably skip the food.

“German beer and food”
Reviewed 16 February 2014 via mobile

Went for our valentine's day date. It was a snowy afternoon around 4:30. There's a large parking lot in the rear. We parked there and went through the back door. It's an old wood door, a liitle intimidating at first like if it's for private members only. Walking through that door leads you into a dark and musty foyer. Blocked off steps on the left, and another wooden door directly ahead. As I walked in, I felt out of place. We were dressed for a funeral and overdressed for this place. The main room was small with a bar on the right. A waitress was folding napkins, got up and took us to our seats. The main dining room was a medium size, maybe 15-20 tables. Wood trim everywhere and a large tv on the outside wall. Chairs were slightly uncomfortable. Waitress informed us that dinner didnt start until 5pm but she gave us a dinner menu anyway. As we waited for dinner, we ordered a Bavarian pretzel and frickels (fried pickles) both were delicious. I questioned the beer menu and the waitress was very helpful at suggesting a beer. I ended up getting the hofbrau hefe weizen and I loved it! It was fresh and crisp with a sweet after taste. I also had an iced tea which tasted fresh brewed. By the time we got done our appetizers, it was dinner time. I ordered the jager schnitzel with red cabbage and potato dumpling. The food was exactly what I was expecting. Large portion of schnitzel and regular side portions. Everything mixed perfectly. As we stayed there longer, it got busy and louder. Setup of the restaurant was strange. We had to walk through a server station to get to the back. My wife said the bathroom needed repairs and updating but it was clean. Menu selection was small but seemed to offer something for everybody.

“Great Sunday Brunch”
Reviewed 5 January 2014 via mobile

We went here for the Sunday brunch for the first time today and had a wonderful experience. The menu had a lot of options and the four of us received fast and friendly service.

“Go for the beer und wurst ”
Reviewed 18 October 2013 via mobile

Every restaurant, except the very best, excel in some areas and not in others. Hop angel Brauhaus has very good beers on tap, and excellent sausages, potato pancakes and schnitzel. The mussels are not good. They also seem to struggle with getting food or drink to your table after ordering. Not sure where the problem is, kitchen or wait staff.

“Authentic German food and good beer selection”
Reviewed 31 March 2013

You can always tell a good German restaurant when the menu has the actual German spelling. They have good selection of German food along with American favorites like steak & burgers. They have at least 12 different draft beers, both imported and local craft brews, plus a large selection of bottled beer. The emphasis is obviously on the German beers.

The staff is very helpful and friendly. We were there on a Friday night when they had a live band in the bar. We were only there for dinner so they made a special effort to seat us in a quiet area.

They have ample parking behind the restaurant. Prices are average for this type of restaurant.

For good German food, friendly atmosphere, and good service, I recommend Hop Angel Brauhaus in Fox Chase.
