It was my birthday celebration and I wanted to go somewhere with a nice atmosphere, low key and quiet so the 6 of us could enjoy a wonderful dinner and great conversation. Instead we experienced anything but! We arrived for our 5:15PM reservations and was seated in the middle of the restaurant right in front of a "loud wedding" and the huge speaker. It was kaos. Why in the world would we be seated right in the middle of all this? People was bumping into our chairs and table. We decided this wasn't what we wanted and got up to leave. The owned grabbed us, pleading for us not to leave, that he would find us a better table. At this point, we had tickets to a show and really didn't have the time to go restaurant shopping so we stayed. They seated us upstairs away from the wedding but not from the noise. We could really enjoy our conversations as we had to talk/yell over the loud obnoxious music.
My boyfriend called and left a message, as well as, sent an email asking for them to supply a cake or something for my birthday celebration. No one ever bothered to respond to his phone call or email - he figured he's just say something once we arrived but with all the kaos he didn't get a chance.
Dinner was very rushed as we now wasted 35 minutes from the time we arrived to ordering. We had to be out at 7:00PM and everyone knew that yet at 7:05PM our server was moving tables and preparing for what I believe another party. No time for coffee and dessert.....just get the check and leave. Due to all this we were late to our show which just added to the disappointing evening.
The service was average - maybe she tried to hard as she constantly tried to take away plates that still had food on them and we were still eating. I can't fault the server as she probably felt just as rushed as we did.
The food mediocre and not all food was delivered that was ordered - one person had to send their meal back because it was wrong and didn't get his new meal until we were mostly done.
All the kaos and screw ups I thought they would have at least given us a discount or not charged for the appetizers - something to apologize for the unpleasant experience we had but nothing. The restaurant looked like it was a nice place but we'll never know because we will NEVER go back - once they got us to come back in, they really didn't make any effort to make us happy and satisfied.
The icing on the cake - the validated our parking ticket but the garage didn't take the discount off so we paid full price for parking.
I am in the marketing field and I feel this whole evening was unprofessional - they should have closed the restaurant to the public for the evening or maybe put the wedding party upstairs away from the general public. For the people, like us, who this was the first time at the Walnut Street Supper Club, it left a bad taste in our mouths and we have no desire to go back. Sorry!
