For the past three years, I have visited the Kimmel Center at Christmas with my family in order to enjoy Peter Nero and the Philly Pops' annual holiday concert. The space is impressive, but the performances are world class. Buy some tickets and check it out!

“Progress is leaning toward Perfection....”

Despite an ever winning roster of presentations, Verizon Hall has long struggled acoustical issues. After a much need renovation, the acoustical gog has lifted! The result is a clear sound with a pleasant reverberation that opens all of the disparate elements (violins, trumpets, voices, and traditional stringed instruments) with crystalline and flawless sounds.

“An Impressive Music Center”
Reviewed 10 July 2012

I grew up in N.Y.C., so I am accustomed to places like Lincoln Center, but the Kimmel Center, with it's two auditoriums is rather impressive. The Verizon Hall is acoustically perfect: there is no bad seat when it comes to sound. I have sat in the Upper Tier for the N.Y. Philharmonic Jazz Band as well as front row for Yo-Yo Ma and a variety of orchestra level seating, including the side boxes. For ballets and Lyle Lovett's first appearance at the Kimmel Center. The Kimmel Center's other veue, the Perelman Theatre, is more intimate but just as enjoyable. The Cafe serves a variety of drinks and small snacks as well as dining. Should you decide to visit the Kimmel Center by car, be certain to get parking in the underground parking lot. It will make your leaving much easier. Seats can sometimes be gotten an hour or more before a performance at the box office. If you are on the second floor you can watch the moving art piece that you might not have noticed from below. Don't miss seeing the Hamilton Garden that overlooks Broad Street. Whether you come for a performance or just for a visit you will enjoy the Kimmel Center space.
