“wonderful anniversary get away”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2014

My husband and I stayed at the Monaco recently for our anniversary. The staff were delightful, the decor entertaining and the amenities were lovely. We were surprised to find a complementary plate of chocolate dipped strawberries and a bottle of Champagne in our room after an afternoon walk.

We stayed in one of the spa rooms, which was very nice. I would recommend some grab bars be installed in the shower room, I'm a bit of klutz and almost slipped several times. Also, the shower head was a bit gunky. That said, this was a terrific getaway weekend and we will most certainly be back.

Thank you for choosing the Monaco on your special occasion. Happy a little champagne and strawberries could make the day a little brighter. We do feature rooms with grab bars in the showers and around the tubs. Let us know next time you might be staying with us and we'll block you in one of those rooms (and maybe get you a nerf robe to walk around in everywhere).

Cheers -

Mark

This was our first trip to Philadelphia and our first stay at a Kimpton property. We wanted to be near Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, both of which are literally right next to the hotel.

We arrived early (around 1:30pm) and the friendly front desk staff quickly checked us in and gave us our rooms. The hotel has an interesting style and décor mixing different motifs, which looks beautiful and unique. This is not your cookie cutter chain hotel at all. Everything looks clean and new. My son and I had booked a room with two double beds and our room was fabulous. I wish my bedroom at home was decorated as nicely as our hotel room! We were next door to the ice machine and not far from the elevator, but I never heard any noise. My father booked a King room with a view of Independence Hall right outside his window. Everything was lovely. The staff was always friendly and eager to provide outstanding customer service. The staff also provided us with a few complimentary personal items that we needed during our stay. Most chain hotels have those little stores selling those items in the lobby (band aids, toothpaste, and the like). At this hotel, they happily provide them for you, which is a very nice touch.

We dined in the Red Owl Tavern (the restaurant inside the hotel) several times and the food was great. The hummus platter with red peppers was absolutely outstanding!!! We had plans to dine out, but after a busy day of sightseeing, we got tired and decided to stay at the hotel to eat. The food and service were always great. Walking the parks and grounds near Independence Hall is nice and quiet in the evenings as well. We walked a few blocks to Franklin's Fountain for a delicious ice cream treat around 10 pm and felt safe. This property is very close to so many historical attractions, it really made it convenient to visit all of them. I would love to try another Kimpton Property again in the future. I recommend this property to anyone visiting Philadelphia.

Welcome to Philadelphia! Thank you for choosing us for your first sojourn into the City of Brotherly Love. From our Forgot It, We Got It program to Red Owl - sounds like you hit the hotel from A to Z. And even had time to explore around the hotel - which you could spend days doing so much to see and eat out there!

Cheers -

Just adding our two cents to the raves...great service, cool decor, the best location. We chose a room with a park view and I would say it was worth the extra price. Hotel is "wedding central" every weekend, apparently, and I was concerned about rowdy guests. However, it was very quiet!
Special shout out to Zach the waiter at Red Owl - great job.

Thanks for choosing the Monaco - not to mention choosing the view. It's surreal to overlook the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall when you start to think about what actually took place on these grounds. We are popular with wedding groups, but we make sure everyone feels the love, not just those wearing white!

Double shout out to Zach!!

Hotel Monaco makes you feel like family from the moment you walk in! They are a customer service first focused hotel that has a staff that cannot do enough for you from the bellman to the front desk. Our children were greeted with high fives and we even had a doorman that offered to walk us a couple of blocks to a restaurant. We spent three days there and had my sisters wedding at the hotel and it was perfect. We have stayed in a a lot of hotels all over the country and internationally and we will make a point to seek out this hotel chain.

Sounds like you met our doorman T...his high 5's are world renowned. Congrats to your family with your sisters wedding! Love to hear you'll be looking for Kimptons as you criss-cross the country. Should get easier as we're growing every month!

Safe travels -

We were married this weekend and had a block of rooms at the Hotel Monaco in Philadelphia for our bridal party and guests. From the minute we pulled up to the hotel valet on Wednesday, we were greeted with the MOST AMAZING staff who treated us like old friends. They never let us lift a hand for anything and were truly amazing. I want to personally thank Sean "The General", Roshid, who was so sweet to take the time to get to know me and my family and "T" (who as my finance and I had our first look in the hotel lobby, was quick to bring him a box of tissues so his buddies wouldn't see him tearing up!!). These guys made our weekend so memorable. Then there was the front desk staff who offered to arrange for flowers for my rehearsal dinner and were quick to help with getting everyone checked in as early as possible. Thanks to the Hotel Monaco for making our wedding weekend so amazing! We look forward to visiting you all again soon! Felicia Ratka & Austin Zuerlein, Philadelphia

A big congrats to you and Austin! Thank you for allowing us to be part of your weekend. The three amigos are outstanding in every way (and way more sensitive than I gave them credit for). We can't wait to see you again!

Stayed here during a business trip to Philly. I got the King Spa room with a view of Independence Hall. The room was large and very well decorated. Check in was of course provided with the highest levels of service that is the expected at Kimpton properties. Staff always is very personable and strive to make sure your stay is excellent. The room was extremely clean, the amenities were great. I even tried the amazing tub one night and looked out at the Liberty Bell while sitting in the tub. Pretty neat. I ate at the attached Red Owl Tavern and it was very good.

Room Tip: pay the extra money for the King Spa room. Its a corner and the views are amazing!

Green Features: As with all Kimptons, very green minded all around.

Thank you for choosing the Monaco. It's never easy traveling for work, so we're happy we could make things a little easier for you. As brilliant as the signers were, I don't think they ever foresaw someone taking a bath while overlooking the Liberty Bell. Very neat.

I stayed 4-nights in June 2014 and totally enjoyed my stay. Things started out great, was able to check in early and with little effort. The front desk staff was always friendly during my stay and the 5 to 7 evening wine was a nice time to talk to other guest. The adjoining Red Owl Tavern was a hot spot for guest and locals. The location of the hotel was perfect and cabs were always available right out side the doors. If my travels take me back to Philly, there's only one place I'll be staying, Hotel Monaco Philadelphia.

We love being your go-to hotel in Philly. Hopefully your "if" turns into "whenever". Glad you could enjoy the wine reception, it may have felt like two hours of bliss, but sadly it's just the one from 5pm to 6pm. Plenty of more alcohol flowing in Red Owl and Stratus though!
