Description: SoWe Bar and Kitchen is a casual American bistro offering creative comfort food in warm, welcoming setting. Proprietors Nancy Law and Troy Barton have designed SoWe to be the neighborhood's "home away from home", knowing that Rob Miracle's seriously good bistro fare will draw the Center City gastro-crowd to "South West Ceneter City Philly". Great snacks, burgers, salads and large plates are served by a friendly, knowledgeable staff. An extensive bar selection, wines by the glass and craft beers on tap and by the bottle. Kitchen is open late night. Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday.

“Good happy hour”
Reviewed 12 September 2012 via mobile

Really nice atmosphere, good happy hour (especially the $2 yuenglings). The food is delicious- I had sliders. The bartender was friendly enough, although a bit snappy.
I will definitely be returning for happy hour and possibly their quiz night!

“A nice evening and conversation with owners”
Reviewed 21 July 2012

Four friends traveled over to this ever improving neighborhood for dinner at SoWe on a very pleasant Saturday evening. We took advantage of a chance to dine outside. Very attentive server and an interesting menu that works for those who just want something simple or a full platter. There is a fairly extensive varied cocktail menu and a nice choice of beers and wines too. I enjoyed my Tropical Breeze cocktail with raspberry vodka, malibu rum, peach liquor, pineapple juice and champagne. We shared some marinated veggies and chicken wings for apps. The wings are nicely done without sauce (sauce on the side). A couple of us ordered Ahi Tuna, and the others steak frites (flat iron steak and good fries) There was a bit of an issue with overcooking on two of the orders which were quickly replaced. One of the new partners (the business is only 7 weeks old) came over and we discussed the couple of slightly overcooked platters. He was VERY eager to hear any and all constructive criticism and very sincere in wanting to learn and get everything as right as possible. He was very friendly and also offered all of us a free dessert because of the mishap. We much appreciated his sincerity and the desserts were great. The hot beignets, in particular, were OMG great!!! Worth a trip for those alone. Our service was very attentive and the place was hopping both inside and out. Looks like a nice addition to this neighborhood.

“Very good food, really cute spot!”
Reviewed 28 June 2012

I am always excited to try new restaurants in the city, so was thrilled to hear good thing about SoWe. It was an adorable spot - great bar area, decent amount of outdoor seating. There were really cute touches in the decor that made the place feel really great. The food was really good - we got a chilled roasted pepper and tomato soup that was delicious, refreshing and not too heavy for a warm evening. The seitan and mushroom panini was one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time. Great french fries as well. We ordered deviled eggs (jalepeno and cheddar that night), which I thought were just okay. But I cannot wait to go back to try more of their food, because the rest of it was very good!

They are going to start karaoke on Saturdays and Quizzo on Tuesdays within a few weeks, so I will for sure be back for food and fun!

I might give an excellent review next time if I get any entrees that live up to the sandwiches and blow me away!

I should also point out that the waiter was really great, very friendly and took great care of us. The food came out pretty quick, which was not the end of the world, but courses should be spaced a bit more if a group is talkative (oops).

“New location, same good Turkish food.”
Reviewed 6 June 2012 via mobile

The Divan Turkish Kitchen has moved to a new location at 622 S. 6th St, just off South St in the Queen Village neighborHood. It is now called Divan Mediterranean Grill, same ownership. We ate there recently and were quite pleased with the quality of the food, general ambience, and attentive service. The Divan seems to be a family-run operation and it shows. Standouts were the lamb shishkabab with tender marinated lamb cubes. We also tried and enjoyed the home-made lamb dumplings in a tasty yogurt sauce. The Divan is BYOB with no corking fee.
